Book The Resin in pulp Programme at Mintek

Download or read book The Resin in pulp Programme at Mintek written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past decade Mintek has investigated the feasibility of using resins to recover gold. Work in the area of resin chemistry has progressed from the evaluation of commercial resins to the development of special resins. Laboratory and pilot-plant testwork has resulted in the accumulation of knowledge of the properties of different adsorbents which facilitates the choice of the correct adsorbent for a particular pulp. Methods of elution and recovery of gold from eluates have also received attention at the laboratory and the pilot-plant scale. During the same period engineering expertise developed for uranium-ore processing was adapted for application to gold pulps; and this culminated in the successful operation of a demonstration unit, and the conversion of the Golden Jubilee carbon-in-pulp (CIP) plant to resin-in-pulp (RIP). Case studies drawn from the above work illustrate the attractiveness of the RIP process and the expertise developed during these years which qualifies Mintek to assist gold producers in applying RIP technology.

Book Small scale Pilot plant Tests on the Resin in pulp Extraction of Gold from Cyanide Media

Download or read book Small scale Pilot plant Tests on the Resin in pulp Extraction of Gold from Cyanide Media written by and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results of small-scale resin-in-pulp pilot-plant investigations at Grootvlei Proprietary Mines Ltd, President Brand Gold Mining Co, Ltd, and Western Areas Gold Mine Co, Ltd are reported. At each mine,a pulp was fed simultaneously to a carbon-in-pulp plant, allowing a direct comparison of the metallurgical performance of the two processes. With the Grootvlei pulp, gold was extracted more efficiently by resin than by carbon owing to the low concentration of competing base-metal cyanide complexes in solution. With the Western Areas pulp, the reverse was true because of the the high concentrations of copper and nickel in solution. Finally, with the President Brand pulp, resin-in-pulp was significantly superior to carbon-in-pulp owing mainly to the inherently slow rate of gold extraction from calcine by activated carbon. Results are presented that show the efficiency of the elution of gold and other elements with a variety of reagents from the loaded resins arising from these three campaigns. At Western Areas, a detailed investigation enabled a preliminary cost evaluation to be made of three techniques for the elution of strong-base resins.

Book Advances in Gold Ore Processing

Download or read book Advances in Gold Ore Processing written by Mike D. Adams and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2005-12-02 with total page 1077 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The gold processing industry is experiencing change. As free-milling and oxide ores become depleted, more complex polymetallic and refractory ores are being processed, coupled with increasing pressure for stricter environmental compliance. Recent years have also seen a steady reduction in mineral processing and metallurgy graduates and a gradual loss of older operating experience. A contribution to documenting current and future best practice in gold ore processing seems timely. The focus of this volume is on advances in current gold plant operation, from conception to closure; chapters also cover innovations at the bench and pilot-scale level that would be expected to find commercial application at some stage. Sufficient coverage is also given to the chemistry and engineering aspects. The general principle behind the structure of the volume is that of flowsheeting based on unit operations and applied to a mineralogical classification of gold ore types. From concept to closure, this book covers all unit operations, mineralogies and processes that are relevant to dealing with today's complex orebodies. Practical experience is vital to the successful development, operation and closure of any operation. The 42 chapters have been contributed by a total of 66 authors and co-authors who are experts from countries spanning the globe, and representing exhaustive practical knowledge covering many disciplines relevant to gold processing. * Current best practice as elucidated by a select panel of experts in the field* Innovations at the bench and pilot-scale level that would be expected to find commercial application at some stage* Mineralogical-based approach to flowsheeting
