Book Evaluation in the Sit and Reach Flexibility Test

Download or read book Evaluation in the Sit and Reach Flexibility Test written by I. Zanevskyy and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research in this paper aims to correct evaluation tables of the modified flexibility sit-and-reach test, avoiding unreasonable great fluctuations in the scales. A human body model in the test, as a kinematic chain, including trunk and upper-extremity members connected with rotated joints, is proposed. An integral parameter of hip rotation and spine-bend flexibility is derived as an angle between the hip to shoulder straight line and horizon. The corresponding error of the angle in the frames of the simplified model appears to be nearly 1.5 %. The bend of trunk member is investigated, and its modeling with the integral parameter of flexibility causes an error of the fingertips displacement of nearly 0.4 cm, which is smaller than an error of the test score recorder. Two smooth evaluation scales are modeled with a linear function and with a logarithmic function. Corresponding tables for proportional evaluation and for rapidly increased mark values on the higher test scores are derived.

Book excerpt: Flexitest: An Innovative Flexibility Assessment Method introduces Flexitest, a simple, easy-to-learn grading system that simultaneously measures and evaluates the flexibility of 20 different individual joint movements. Now you will be able to really evaluate, rather than just measure, flexibility for individuals of all age groups and physical activity levels. Claudio Gil Soares de Araújo, a Brazilian sports medicine physician with a PhD in physiology, has spent more than 20 years developing and perfecting the Flexitest method. This concise resource clearly explains how to use Flexitest in different settings, with valuable coverage of data acquisition, analysis, and statistics. The book is organized into three parts and includes the following features: -More than 100 accurate photographs of the assessment of 20 joint movements -Numerous figures and tables presenting the flexogram and flexindex data -Supplemented photographs, scientific full text papers and abstracts, and other materials available via the author ́s institutional Web site - http: //www.clinimex.com.br- for viewing and downloading Flexitest book proposes a 18-point classification system that makes it easy to compare and contrast different flexibility assessment techniques; it will appeal to any professional whose job involves flexibility assessment. The author discusses how to determine a global index of body flexibility, called Flexindex, using the assessment of different joints. He presents normative and statistical information for over 3,000 male and female subjects ranging in age from 5 to 88 and the Flexitest profiles of more than 400 athletes from a variety of sports. You'll also find a self-evaluation test, a review of contemporary flexibility testing methods, variables affecting flexibility assessments, and a rationale for the use of Flexitest based on several controlled studies. The information presented in Flexitest: An Innovative Flexibility Assessment Method is clear enough for practitioners to begin using the technique immediately, yet it is detailed enough to meet the scientific needs of researchers.

Book Fitness Measures and Health Outcomes in Youth

Download or read book Fitness Measures and Health Outcomes in Youth written by Institute of Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2012-12-10 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physical fitness affects our ability to function and be active. At poor levels, it is associated with such health outcomes as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Physical fitness testing in American youth was established on a large scale in the 1950s with an early focus on performance-related fitness that gradually gave way to an emphasis on health-related fitness. Using appropriately selected measures to collected fitness data in youth will advance our understanding of how fitness among youth translates into better health. In Fitness Measures and Health Outcomes in Youth, the IOM assesses the relationship between youth fitness test items and health outcomes, recommends the best fitness test items, provides guidance for interpreting fitness scores, and provides an agenda for needed research. The report concludes that selected cardiorespiratory endurance, musculoskeletal fitness, and body composition measures should be in fitness surveys and in schools. Collecting fitness data nationally and in schools helps with setting and achieving fitness goals and priorities for public health at an individual and national level.

Book Hamstring Flexibility in Young Adult Male Female

Download or read book Hamstring Flexibility in Young Adult Male Female written by Neeraj Kumar and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-05 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flexibility of an individual is determines his/her fitness level. It is a matter of prime importance among athletes. Commonly the flexibility of hamstring is being measured to evaluate an individual s overall flexibility. There are so many tests to measure hamstring flexibility such as goniometry, straight leg raise and sit and reach test etc. Sit and reach test is the common and reliable test. The purpose the present study was to compare the flexibility between adult male and female in Kanpur population. A total of 120 collegiate subjects aged between 18-25 years divided into 60 each of two groups A and B consists of male and female respectively were randomly selected. All participants were allowed to perform sit and reach test. Statistical insignificant difference found between male s and female s flexibility (t=0.129). Pearson correlation was also found statistical insignificant between flexibility with age, height and weight among both males and females. Therefore, the findings of present study shows there is no differences in flexibility between young adult male and female.

Book The Validity of the Sit and reach and Modified Sit and reach Tests in College age Individuals

Download or read book The Validity of the Sit and reach and Modified Sit and reach Tests in College age Individuals written by Brian R. Roberts and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The purpose of this study was to examine the criterion-related validity of the sit-and-reach (SR) and modified sit-and-reach (MSR) tests against a criterion measure for combined low back and hamstring flexibility. The investigation involved comparing the SR and MSR tests and correlating each to the Leighton Flexometer (LF) test for combined low back and hamstring flexibility. The population included 128 subjects, 44 males and 84 females, who ranged in age from 18 to 35 years. All subjects signed informed consent forms and were verbally given a detailed explanation of the purpose of the study and its protocol prior to testing. Each subject completed three trials of the SR, MSR, and LF tests after completing a 5-minute warm-up of stationary cycling and a low back and hamstring stretching routine. The average of the three scores was used as the score for statistical analysis. Validity coefficients and 95% confidence intervals were calculated to examine the relationship between the SR, MSR, and LF tests. Results indicated a moderate correlation between the SR test and LF test (r = .677) and between the MSR test and LF test (r = .610). Reliability coefficients for the SR, MSR, and LF tests were high, with intraclass (R) correlation coefficients of .991, .993, and .997 for SR, MSR, and LF tests, respectively. An independent t-test was used for comparison of the SR and MSR tests, with a significant difference found (t = 8.641, p
