But recently its food aid polices have come under attack by the European Court of Auditors and the European Parliament. The Court has criticised delays and inefficiencies in the system; the European Parliament, while noting these, has raised the wider question, now also being posed by other and independent experts in the field, as to whether, in certain circumstances, present food aid practices may not be doing more harm than good to recipient countries. The European Commission is now re-examining Community food aid policies in the light of this new thinking, and is expected to produce a report in the autumn.
