Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LE PINCEMENT MAGNETIQUE D'UNE DECHARGE AXIALE, PHENOMENE COURAMMENT QUALIFIE DE Z-PINCH, CONSTITUE UN MOYEN D'OBTENIR UNE SOURCE DE RAYONNEMENT X INTENSE ET BREVE, A PARTIR DU PLASMA CHAUD ET DENSE AINSI CREE. TOUTEFOIS, LE DEVELOPPEMENT D'INSTABILITES RAYLEIGH-TAYLOR LIMITE LE RENDEMENT DE CONVERSION DE L'ENERGIE EN X. LA CONFIGURATION ETUDIEE ICI, VISE A REDUIRE CES INSTABILITES : LE COURANT EST DELIVRE DANS UNE GAINE CYLINDRIQUE DE VAPEUR D'ALUMINIUM (FACILEMENT IONISABLE), COMPRIMEE SUR UN FIL CENTRAL MICROMETRIQUE. LA VAPEUR D'ALUMINIUM (50 G/CM) EST PRODUITE PAR L'EXPLOSION D'UNE FEUILLE DE 3 M D'EPAISSEUR, A PARTIR D'UN BANC DE CONDENSATEURS EXTERNE. LA SIMULATION NUMERIQUE DE L'IMPLOSION DE LA CHARGE A L'AIDE D'UN CODE DE MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMIQUE RADIATIVE PERMET DE DEGAGER LES ORDRES DE GRANDEUR DES PARAMETRES SIGNIFICATIFS (VITESSE DE COMPRESSION, ENERGIE RAYONNEE PAR ZONE SPECTRALE), ET DE RECHERCHER DES CONFIGURATIONS QUI OPTIMISENT LE RENDEMENT X. LES EXPERIENCES, REALISEES SUR LE GENERATEUR HAUTE PUISSANCE PULSEE AMBIORIX (0,5 , 2 TW, 2 MA, 50 NS) COMPRENNENT DE NOMBREUX DIAGNOSTICS : UNE CAMERA A BALAYAGE DE FENTE VISIBLE (PHASE HYDRODYNAMIQUE), DES SPECTROMETRES A HAUTE RESOLUTION (1 EV), POUR EVALUER L'ENERGIE CONTENUE DANS LES RAIES K (PHASE RADIATIVE), UN SYSTEME D'IMAGERIE X, UN ENSEMBLE DE DETECTEURS PHOTOELECTRIQUES ET PHOTOCONDUCTEURS. L'EFFET DU FIL CENTRAL ET DE SA NATURE, SUR LA STABILITE, L'HOMOGENEITE, LA REPRODUCTIBILITE ET LE RENDEMENT X EST ETUDIE. LES CONFIGURATIONS DE JET AL SUR FIL CENTRAL EN AL AMELIORENT D'UN FACTEUR 2, LA QUANTITE D'ENERGIE RAYONNEE DANS LES RAIES K DE L'ALUMINIUM (1,5 KEV OU 7,7 A). L'INTERPRETATION DES RESULTATS, A L'AIDE D'UN MODELE COLLISIONNEL-RADIATIF HORS EQUILIBRE THERMODYNAMIQUE LOCAL, EST EN BON ACCORD AVEC UN PLASMA, COMPOSE D'UN CUR FROID ET DENSE (T#E = 350 EV, N#E = 10#2#0 CM##3), ENTOURE D'UNE COURONNE CHAUDE ET PEU DENSE (T#E = 900 EV, N#E = 10#1#9 CM##3).

Download or read book PRODUCTION ET DIAGNOSTIC D UN PLASMA DENSE DE TYPE Z PINCH POUR L INTERACTION AVEC UN FAISCEAU D IONS LOURDS written by VLADIMIR.. ANDRE and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CE TRAVAIL A CONSISTE EN LA MISE AU POINT ET AU DIAGNOSTIC D'UN PLASMA DENSE DE TYPE Z-PINCH ADAPTE A DES EXPERIENCES D'INTERACTION ENTRE FAISCEAU D'IONS LOURDS ENERGETIQUES (2 A 4 MEV PAR NUCLEON) ET PLASMA DENSE. DANS UN PREMIER TEMPS, L'ANALYSE DE LA THEORIE DE CETTE INTERACTION PERMET DE DEFINIR LES PROPRIETES IMPOSEES AU PLASMA: DENSITE, IONISATION, PRESSION, STABILITE ET HOMOGENEITE. UNE DECHARGE DE TYPE Z-PINCH EST PARTICULIEREMENT ADAPTEE AUX CONDITIONS REQUISES. UNE ETUDE D'IMAGERIE PAR CAMERA RAPIDE ET A BALAYAGE, ET DES MESURES DU COURANT ET DE TENSION ONT PERMIS DE DEFINIR LES PARAMETRES OPTIMUMS (4KJ POUR 2 MILIBARS DE DEUTERIUM) POUR L'OBTENTION D'UN Z-PINCH HOMOGENE, STABLE ET DE COMPRESSION MAXIMUM. LA COMPARAISON DES DONNEES EXPERIMENTALES AVEC LES MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMIQUES PERMET D'ESTIMER LES PARAMETRES DU PLASMA AU MAXIMUM DE COMPRESSION. LE DIAGNOSTIC DU PLASMA A UTILISE DES METHODES SPECTROSCOPIQUES. IL ETAIT RENDU DELICAT PAR L'ABSENCE DE RAIES DANS LE SPECTRE D'EMISSION PENDANT UNE GRANDE PARTIE DE LA DUREE DE LA DECHARGE. UNE TECHNIQUE ORIGINALE COUPLANT DES MESURES D'ABSORPTION LASER ET DE SPECTROCOPIE DANS LE VISIBLE A ALORS ETE DEVELOPPEE. LES APPROCHES THEORIQUES DES SPECTRES DE DEUTERIUM ALLIEES A L'UTILISATION DES LOIS DE TRANSFERT RADIATIF PERMETTENT DE REMONTER AUX DENSITES ET TEMPERATURES ELECTRONIQUES AVEC PRECISION. UNE BONNE DESCRIPTION DES SPECTRES EXPERIMENTAUX N'A ETE RENDUE POSSIBLE QUE PAR LA PRISE EN COMPTE DE L'INFLUENCE DES MICROCHAMPS ELECTRIQUES INTERNES AU PLASMA SUR LES POIDS STATISTIQUES DES NIVEAUX ATOMIQUES SELON UNE THEORIE ASSEZ RECENTE QUI SE VOIT AINSI VALIDEE. LES RESULTATS DES MODELISATIONS ET DIAGNOSTICS APPORTENT UNE FINE CONNAISSANCE DU Z-PINCH, CE QUI EST FONDAMENTAL POUR LE DEVELOPPEMENT DES EXPERIENCES D'INTERACTION IONS LOURDS-PLASMA

Book excerpt: Fusion research started over half a century ago. Although the task remains unfinished, the end of the road could be in sight if society makes the right decisions. Nuclear Fusion: Half a Century of Magnetic Confinement Fusion Research is a careful, scholarly account of the course of fusion energy research over the past fifty years. The authors outline the different paths followed by fusion research from initial ignorance to present understanding. They explore why a particular scheme would not work and why it was more profitable to concentrate on the mainstream tokamak development. The book features descriptive sections, in-depth explanations of certain physical and technical issues, scientific terms, and an extensive glossary that explains relevant abbreviations and acronyms.

Book Handbook of Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometry

Download or read book Handbook of Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometry written by Michael Thompson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of our Handbook was written in 1983. In the preface to the first edition we noted the rapid development of inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry and its considerable potential for elemental analysis. The intervening five years have seen a substantial growth in ICP applications; much has happened and this is an appropriate time to present a revised edition. The basic approach of the book remains the same. This is a handbook, addressed to the user of the technique who seeks direct, practical advice. A concise summary of the technique is attempted. Detailed, theoretical treatment of the background to the method is not covered. We have, however, thoroughly revised much of the text, and new chapters have been added. These reflect the changes and progress in recent years. We are grateful to Mr Stephen Walton, Dr Gwendy Hall and London and Scandinavian Metallurgical Co. Ltd for their contributions. Chapter 3 (Instrumentation) has been rewritten by Mr Walton, the new Chapter on ICP-mass spectrometry has been written by Dr Hall, and London and Scandinavian provided much of the information for the chapter on metals analysis by ICP-AES. These chapters have been integrated into the book, and a conscious effort has been made to retain the unity of style within the book. New material has been added elsewhere in the book, archaeological materials are considered, pre concentration methods and chemometrics covered more fully.

Book Advanced Techniques for Surface Engineering

Download or read book Advanced Techniques for Surface Engineering written by W. Gissler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today's shortages of resources make the search for wear and corrosion resistant materials one of the most important tasks of the next century. Since the surface of a material is the location where any interaction occurs, it is that there the hardest requirements on the material are imposed: to be wear resistant for tools and bearings; to be corrosion resistant for turbine blades and tubes in the petrochemical industry; to be antireflecting for solar cells; to be decorative for architectural panels and to combine several of these properties in other applications. Surface engineering is the general term that incorporates all the techniques by which a surface modification can be accomplished. These techniques include both coating and modification of the surface by ion implantation and laser beam melting. In recent years a continuously growing number of these techniques were developed to the extent that it became more and more difficult to maintain an overlook and to understand which of these highly differentiated techniques might be applied to resolve a given surface engineering problem. A similar development is also occuring for surface characterization techniques. This volume contains contributions from renowned scientists and engineers to the Eurocourse the aim of which was to inform about the various techniques and to give a comprehensive survey of the latest development on this subject.

Book Liquid Metal Magnetohydrodynamics

Download or read book Liquid Metal Magnetohydrodynamics written by J.J. Lielpeteris and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Liquid metal MHO is within the scope of two series of international conferences. One is the International Congress on "MHD Power Generation", held every four years, which includes technical and economical aspects as well as scientific questions. The other if the Beer-Sheva Seminar on "MHO Flows and Turbulence", held every three years in Israel. In addition to these well established meetings, an IUTAM Symposium was previously organized in Cambridge (UK) in 1982 on "Metallurgical Applications of MHD" by the late Arthur Shercliff. It was focussed on a very specific subject developing radiply from the middle of the 1970's. The magnetic field was generally AC, including frequencies high enough for the skin-depth to be much smaller than the typical length scale of the liquide pool. And the development of new technologies, or the improvement of existing ones, was the main justification of most of the researches presented and discussed. Only two participants from Eastern countries attended this Symposium. By the middle of the 1980's we felt that on this very same topic ideas had reached much more maturity than in 1982. We also realized that a line of research on MHD flows related to fusion reactors (tokamaks) was developing significantly, with particular emphasis on flows at large interaction parameter.

Book Materials and Processes

Download or read book Materials and Processes written by Barrie D. Dunn and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-29 with total page 677 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this book is to assist scientists and engineers select the ideal material or manufacturing process for particular applications; these could cover a wide range of fields, from light-weight structures to electronic hardware. The book will help in problem solving as it also presents more than 100 case studies and failure investigations from the space sector that can, by analogy, be applied to other industries. Difficult-to-find material data is included for reference. The sciences of metallic (primarily) and organic materials presented throughout the book demonstrate how they can be applied as an integral part of spacecraft product assurance schemes, which involve quality, material and processes evaluations, and the selection of mechanical and component parts. In this successor edition, which has been revised and updated, engineering problems associated with critical spacecraft hardware and the space environment are highlighted by over 500 illustrations including micrographs and fractographs. Space hardware captured by astronauts and returned to Earth from long durations in space are examined. Information detailed in the Handbook is applicable to general terrestrial applications including consumer electronics as well as high reliability systems associated with aeronautics, medical equipment and ground transportation. This Handbook is also directed to those involved in maximizing the relia bility of new materials and processes for space technology and space engineering. It will be invaluable to engineers concerned with the construction of advanced structures or mechanical and electronic sub-systems.
