Book excerpt: La prevención de riesgos laborales tiene cada vez más importancia y sobre todo en el sector de la construcción, dado que es uno de los sectores que concentra la mayoría de accidentes laborales. Analizando si existen diferencias entre la percepción de riesgo de un operario y un técnico de obra se pretende hacerse una idea lo más aproximada posible de cómo perciben el riesgo ambos grupos y poder llegar a unas conclusiones que nos permitan optimizar los métodos de evaluación de riesgos, consiguiendo así una mejora en la prevención de riesgos laborales. Para realizar este estudio se ha realizado un estudio de campo mediante unos cuestionarios para cada uno de los dos grupos que ponen de manifiesto diferencias y similitudes de percepción del riesgo de la población encuestada. La muestra total analizada está formada por 215 técnicos que tienen algún cargo dentro el proceso de la construcción y 584 trabajadores del sector de la construcción. Una vez recogidos los datos se ha procedido al análisis de los resultados de los cuestionarios tanto de los técnicos como de los trabajadores. Para realizar un análisis más profundo hemos utilizado los resultados obtenidos para hacer una interrelación entre ellos valorando el grado de peligrosidad en función del oficio, la experiencia, el cargo de seguridad, la accidentalidad, el estado civil, la nacionalidad y la satisfacción laboral. Por último se han comparado diversos aspectos de la percepción del riesgo entre técnico y trabajador para poder observar las diferencias de percepción entre estos dos grupos y así poder llegar a unas conclusiones.

El diagnóstico y análisis de dichos contextos puede contribuir a identificar los factores que afectan la salud y seguridad de los trabajadores, a identificar los grupos de mayor riesgo por industria o profesión en la población y a diseñar actividades preventivas. La prevención de riesgos laborales no solo debe orientarse a la mejora continua de las condiciones de trabajo. La condición de trabajo se refiere a las condiciones físicas y organizacionales, y el entorno laboral, entre otros elementos. Igualmente, establece que los índices estadísticos clásicos no proporcionan información sobre la evolución de las condiciones del trabajo ni ayudan a prever cómo estas evolucionan. Se necesitan indicadores que proporcionen información necesaria para poder actuar de forma proactiva.
