Book Estimation of Emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds VOCs from Canadian Residences

Download or read book Estimation of Emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds VOCs from Canadian Residences written by CS. Davis and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Estimates of emissions of ten VOCs from Canadian residences based on Eq 1, where Ci and Co, respectively, are the indoor and outdoor concentrations, ach is the number of air changes per hour, V the average house volume, and N the number of houses, ranged from 14 tonnes/y (benzene) to 227 tonnes/y (toluene). E=(Ci-Co)xachxVxN Measured ambient benzene concentrations in Metropolitan Toronto (annual mean of 2 to 3 ?g/m3) were within a factor of 10 of box model predictions based on a benzene emission inventory. Predicted ambient concentrations for the VOCs with the three highest residential emissions (toluene, decane, and 1,4-dichlorobenzene) were a negligible fraction of measured ambient concentrations in Metropolitan Toronto. Canadian indoor emissions for selected VOCs found in household solvents were a small fraction (0.2 to 2.3%) of the residential solvent usage. Indoor and outdoor VOC concentration data in conjunction with air exchange rates are useful in estimating VOC emissions from residences.

Book Environmental Guideline for the Control of Volatile Organic Compounds Process Emissions from New Organic Chemical Operations

Download or read book Environmental Guideline for the Control of Volatile Organic Compounds Process Emissions from New Organic Chemical Operations written by Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guide has been developed for the control of volatile organic compound (VOC) process emissions from new organic chemical operations. Sections of the guide cover the following: applicability; definitions of terms; VOC emissions limits; total organic compounds monitoring; test methods and procedures, including emission rate calculations; and reporting and record keeping. The appendix includes requirements for flares used to control process emissions, sample reporting forms, and lists of organic compounds produced in the petroleum products, plastics/resins, and industrial organic chemical industries.

Book Protocol for the Estimation of VOC Emissions from Petroleum Refineries and Gasoline Marketing Operations

Download or read book Protocol for the Estimation of VOC Emissions from Petroleum Refineries and Gasoline Marketing Operations written by Energy Institute (Storbritannien) and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second edition of the protocol for the estimation of VOC emissions from petroleum refineries and gasoline marketing operations contains some new and updated emission factors compared to the first edition (IP, 2000).The Protocol provides methods for the estimation of annual emissions of non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs) from potential sources in refineries and gasoline marketing facilities. The aims are to aid industry compliance with existing legislative reporting requirements and to allow consistency in emission estimation methodologies.

Book An EXPOSURE ASSESSMENT STUDY OF VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS VOCS IN RESIDENTIAL INDOOR ENVIRONMENT USING THE CANADIAN HEALTH MEASURES SURVEY CYCLE 2

Download or read book An EXPOSURE ASSESSMENT STUDY OF VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS VOCS IN RESIDENTIAL INDOOR ENVIRONMENT USING THE CANADIAN HEALTH MEASURES SURVEY CYCLE 2 written by Marianne Parent and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volatile organic compounds (VOC) research in the residential indoor environment has focused on respiratory conditions; additional research is necessary to understand the effects on overall health. I analyzed the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) data Cycle 2 for indoor air exposure in children (3-11 years old) and youth-adults (12-79 years old) as stratified the age and location of the dwelling. I performed multivariate linear regressions to describe the variations in log-transformed total BTEX, chloroform, naphthalene and alpha-pinene in separate analyses. I performed small laboratory studies to optimize the use of thermal desorption tubes during indoor air research. Total BTEX concentrations were associated with dwelling characteristics: type, age, number of residents and mortgage. The concentrations of naphthalene and alpha-pinene were significantly associated with the presence of a child in the dwelling. The analysis of CHMS Cycle 2 dataset and the descriptive studies allowed for new insights into VOC exposures.

Book New Source Performance Standards and Guidelines for the Reduction of Volatile Organic Compound Emissions from Canadian Automotive OEM Coating Facilities

Download or read book New Source Performance Standards and Guidelines for the Reduction of Volatile Organic Compound Emissions from Canadian Automotive OEM Coating Facilities written by Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The guidelines contained in this report set levels for volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions by the coating facilities of automotive original equipment manufacturers as used for the finishing of automobiles, vans, sport/utility vehicles, and light trucks. Performance standards and guidelines are presented for new and existing sources, and a methodology is included for calculation of VOC emissions based on the total quantity of solvents used in such operations as metal cleaning, priming, surfacing, painting, and facility maintenance. Finally, codes of good practice are set out with regard to solvent management, operator training, materials handling, maintenance, and cleaning. Checklists are included for self-assessment of coating facilities.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper provides summary statistics for important toxic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) for 1989-90 and compares them with published United States monitoring data. Analysis of the alkane, alkene, aromatic, and carbonyl data will include a comparison of species abundance by site and an analysis of overall reactivity of VOC mixtures at urban and rural sites. Seasonal and weekday patterns in VOC mixture composition and reactivity are also examined. The ambient VOC species profiles are compared to published emission derived profiles.
