Book Essays on The Gita Part III

Download or read book Essays on The Gita Part III written by Chandan Sengupta and published by Chandan Sukumar Sengupta. This book was released on with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume of Essays on The Gita will cover up the doctrines and rituals explained differently by Sage Veda Vyasa. Different names are coined by saints and Philosophers time to time. It is also true that we are willingly or unwillingly move through instances when our mind and intellect get indulge in arbitrations related to our definite role in society. The Yoga of Knowledge and Actions are also closely linked up when we move on to execute some activities, claim some rights and perform some duties. We cannot claim that this volume will provide vivid translation of the Holy Scripture titled The Bhagavadgita (Chapter 3 and 4); even it is not confirmed that descriptions, comments or narratives of all types duly proposed by different narrators are converged before preparing this document. It has some sort of linkages to the modern context and the context of Epics to work out relevance of the Holy Scripture. This book will also reflect relevance of The Bhagavadgita on the basis of its applicability and justifications. We can put us easily at the place of the fellow warrior if entire society is considered as a battle field; there requires a time tested guidance upon which one can rely perfectly for working out a solution; for establishing balance of mind and intellect; for regulating senses with the help of quality segments of Ego (AHAM); for feeling the presence of the Supreme Master besides all kinds of material as well as living manifestations.

Book excerpt: The Bhagavad Gita is one of the leading texts on the practice of spirituality without abandoning life in the world. It forms 18 chapters within the epic Mahabharata and provides in its brief scope an extraordinarily concise review of the Yoga of Knowledge, Yoga of Devotion and Yoga of Works. At the same time, it represents a synthesis of Vedanta and Sankhya. Sri Aurobindo wrote his famous Essays on the Gita as a systematic review of the Bhagavad Gita. M.P. Pandit, the author of the current volume, has systematically presented Sri Aurobindo’s view of the Bhagavad Gita and its teachings. Major questions and issues are addressed. At the end there are a series of “gems” from Essays on the Gita to encapsulate Sri Aurobindo’s views on major concerns. M.P. Pandit was a prolific writer and lecturer, and a noted exponent of Sri Aurobindo’s Integral Yoga, while at the same time having a deep grounding in the Gita, the Upanishads, the Veda and the Tantras.

Book Philosophy as World Literature

Download or read book Philosophy as World Literature written by Jeffrey R. Di Leo and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2020-11-26 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it mean to consider philosophy as a species of not just literature but world literature? The authors in this collection explore philosophy through the lens of the "worlding" of literature--that is, how philosophy is connected and reconnected through global literary networks that cross borders, mix stories, and speak in translation and dialect. Historically, much of the world's most influential philosophy, from Plato's dialogues and Augustine's confessions to Nietzsche's aphorisms and Sartre's plays, was a form of literature--as well as, by extension, a form of world literature. Philosophy as World Literature offers a variety of accounts of how the worlding of literature problematizes the national categorizing of philosophy and brings new meanings and challenges to the discussion of intersections between philosophy and literature.
