Quasimodo, géant déforme, agit d ́abord sous l ́emprise de l ́archidiacre mais à son tour tombe sous le charme de la belle et jeune gitane. Le décor est, bien sûr, la cathédrale et ses alentours, mais aussi la Cour des Miracles, ou pullule la lie des truands de Paris.
