Book Glosario Del Banco Mundial

Download or read book Glosario Del Banco Mundial written by World Bank and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 1996 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edition of the World Bank has been revised and expanded by the Terminology Unit in the Languages Services Division of the World Bank in collaboration with the English, Spanish, and French Translation Sections. The Glossary is intended to assist the Bank's translators and interpreters, other Bank staff using French and Spanish in their work, and free-lance translator's and interpreters employed by the Bank. For this reason, the Glossary contains not only financial and economic terminology and terms relating to the Bank's procedures and practices, but also terms that frequently occur in Bank documents, and others for which the Bank has a preferred equivalent. Although many of these terms, relating to such fields as agriculture, education, energy, housing, law, technology, and transportation, could be found in other sources, they have been assembled here for ease of reference. A list of acronyms occurring frequently in Bank texts (the terms to which they refer being found in the Glossary) and a list of international, regional, and national organizations will be found at the end of the Glossary.

Book Assessing Hispanic Clients Using the MMPI 2 and MMPI A

Download or read book Assessing Hispanic Clients Using the MMPI 2 and MMPI A written by James Neal Butcher and published by American Psychological Association (APA). This book was released on 2007 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Persons of Hispanic origin are the largest ethnic minority group in the United States. Practitioners involved in personality assessment will undoubtedly work with Hispanic clients who may be grappling with low English proficiency and other challenges of acculturation to U.S. society. Written by frontline experts in the use of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), Assessing Hispanic Clients Using the MMPI-2 and MMPI-A discusses the utility of psychological tests based on U.S. norms in making clinical decisions for clients from different cultural backgrounds. The MMPI instruments are the most extensively researched and widely used personality instruments with Spanish-speaking clients. The authors provide readers a critical sociocultural context in the use of the MMPI-2 and MMPI-A in the clinical assessment of Hispanic clients in the United States and abroad. Psychologists and other practitioners are offered a practical guide for clinical interpretation of test results, with advice on addressing biases, challenges to protocol validity, and other potential barriers to the culturally appropriate and ethical use and interpretation of the tests. Butcher, Cabiya, Lucio, and Garrido provide a comprehensive review of the research literature, past and contemporary, on the use of the MMPIs with Spanish-speaking populations in the United States and internationally. The authors describe the development and validation of Spanish-language versions of the MMPI-2 and MMPI-A, offering scenarios from Mexico, Cuba, and other Spanish-speaking countries. A set of appendixes includes T score conversion tables for the Mexican MMPI versions and a listing of Spanish language translations"--Jacket. Book Mini Nutritional Assessment MNA

Download or read book Mini Nutritional Assessment MNA written by Bruno J. Vellas and published by Karger Medical and Scientific Publishers. This book was released on 1999 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first of a new series which will present the proceedings of the newly established Nestlé Nutrition Workshop Series: Clinical & Performance Programme aimed at adult nutrition. Undernutrition is a common phenomenon in elderly people, and malnutrition reaches significant levels in those being in hospital, nursing homes or home care programs. Consequences of malnutrition often go unrecognised owing to the lack of specific validated instruments to assess nutritional status in frail elderly persons. The Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) provides a single, rapid assessment of nutritional status in the elderly of different degrees of independence, allowing the prevalence of protein-energy malnutrition to be determined and to evaluate the efficacy of nutritional intervention and strategies. Easy, quick and economical to perform, it enables staff to check the nutritional status of elderly people when they enter hospitals or institutions and to monitor changes occurring during their stay. Moreover, the MNA is predictive of the cost of care and length of stay in hospital. This publication will be of immense assistance to heads of geriatric teaching units, teachers in nutrition, clinicians general practitioners and dieticians, enabling them to better detect, recognise and start treatment of malnutrition in the elderly.

Book The Failure of Modern Civilization and the Struggle for a deep Alternative

Download or read book The Failure of Modern Civilization and the Struggle for a deep Alternative written by Claudia von Werlhof and published by Beiträge zur Dissidenz. This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Western civilization is the Utopia of a better and higher life on Earth. The globalization of neo-liberalism proves that this project has failed. The paradigm of «Critical Theory of Patriarchy» explains this failure and discusses alternatives. By confronting the central civilizations in history, the egalitarian, life-oriented matriarchal one, and the hierarchical, nature and life dominating, hostile patriarchal one, we see that 5000 years of patriarchy have «replaced» matriarchies and nature itself by a «progressive» counter-world of «capital». This transformation characterizes «capitalist patriarchy» including «socialism». Its demise is due to the «alchemical» destruction of the world's resources, thought of, theologically legitimized and fetishized as «creation». This violence is not recognized. Elites have, instead, begun with a new «military alchemy», treating the whole Planet as weapon of mass destruction. Hence, the «Planetary Movement for Mother Earth».
