Book excerpt: Nothing provides a clearer picture of the financial strength (or weakness) of any business than an understanding of its cash flow strategy. Since cash is the life-blood of any business, the strength of the enterprise is directly related to the quality of its cash flow management strategies. Cash-management specialist Keith Checkley has consulted with and trained cash management specialists throughout the world. He brings the reader up to date on the important issues and essential techniques for implementing and managing an effective cash flow system. New case studies make the concepts easy to understand and apply. Book Equity and spectrum of mitigation commitments in the 2015 agreement

Download or read book Equity and spectrum of mitigation commitments in the 2015 agreement written by Steffen Kallbekken and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2014-04-08 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To what extent and how can equity be operationalized in a spectrum of mitigation commitments? We approach this question through academic literature review and analysis of Parties’ submissions and statements. We argue that a potentially feasible and constructive way forward is a mutual recognition approach. This approach implies that parties should accept a set or norms, and a range of interpretations of these norms, as legitimate. Parties should also respect a principle of reciprocity, which means that any (interpretation of a) principle of fairness invoked by oneself can legitimately be invoked also by others. We apply this approach to the issue of equity indicators, and propose a non-coercive template of indicators approach, building on two critical components: transparency and open, critical review of Parties’ pledges and justifications thereof.

Book Humanitarian Response Index 2008

Download or read book Humanitarian Response Index 2008 written by DARA (Development Assistance Research Associates) and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-01-18 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this annual report is to develop an index of good humanitarian donorship that will measure donors' effectiveness against their commitment to the Principles and Good Practise of Humanitarian Donorship. The index is intended to help the international donor community to better understand its strengths and weaknesses in order to improve the efficiency and quality of its donor activities and initiatives. The index is also expected to raise awareness about the increasingly important role of humanitarian action and associated good practices beyond its current core constituencies. We believe that this report offers significant potential to improve the quality of humanitarian aid, benefiting those most affected by both man-made and natural disasters.

Book Climate Change 2022 Mitigation of Climate Change

Download or read book Climate Change 2022 Mitigation of Climate Change written by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2023-08-17 with total page 2042 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Working Group III contribution to the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report provides a comprehensive and transparent assessment of the literature on climate change mitigation. The report assesses progress in climate change mitigation options for reducing emissions and enhancing sinks. With greenhouse gas emissions at the highest levels in human history, this report provides options to achieve net zero, as pledged by many countries. The report highlights for the first time the social and demand-side aspects of climate mitigation, and assesses the literature on human behaviour, lifestyle, and culture, and its implications for mitigation action. It brings a wide range of disciplines, notably from the social sciences, within the scope of the assessment. IPCC reports are a trusted source for decision makers, policymakers, and stakeholders at all levels (international, regional, national, local) and in all branches (government, businesses, NGOs). Available as Open Access on Cambridge Core.
