Book The Geometry of Multiple Images

Download or read book The Geometry of Multiple Images written by Olivier Faugeras and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 682 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book formalizes and analyzes the relations between multiple views of a scene from the perspective of various types of geometries. A key feature is that it considers Euclidean and affine geometries as special cases of projective geometry. Over the last forty years, researchers have made great strides in elucidating the laws of image formation, processing, and understanding by animals, humans, and machines. This book describes the state of knowledge in one subarea of vision, the geometric laws that relate different views of a scene. Geometry, one of the oldest branches of mathematics, is the natural language for describing three-dimensional shapes and spatial relations. Projective geometry, the geometry that best models image formation, provides a unified framework for thinking about many geometric problems are relevant to vision. The book formalizes and analyzes the relations between multiple views of a scene from the perspective of various types of geometries. A key feature is that it considers Euclidean and affine geometries as special cases of projective geometry. Images play a prominent role in computer communications. Producers and users of images, in particular three-dimensional images, require a framework for stating and solving problems. The book offers a number of conceptual tools and theoretical results useful for the design of machine vision algorithms. It also illustrates these tools and results with many examples of real applications.

Book Advances in Object Recognition Systems

Download or read book Advances in Object Recognition Systems written by Ioannis Kypraios and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-05-09 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An invariant object recognition system needs to be able to recognise the object under any usual a priori defined distortions such as translation, scaling and in-plane and out-of-plane rotation. Ideally, the system should be able to recognise (detect and classify) any complex scene of objects even within background clutter noise. In this book, we present recent advances towards achieving fully-robust object recognition. The relation and importance of object recognition in the cognitive processes of humans and animals is described as well as how human- and animal-like cognitive processes can be used for the design of biologically-inspired object recognition systems. Colour processing is discussed in the development of fully-robust object recognition systems. Examples of two main categories of object recognition systems, the optical correlators and pure artificial neural network architectures, are given. Finally, two examples of object recognition's applications are described in details. With the recent technological advancements object recognition becomes widely popular with existing applications in medicine for the study of human learning and memory, space science and remote sensing for image analysis, mobile computing and augmented reality, semiconductors industry, robotics and autonomous mobile navigation, public safety and urban management solutions and many more others. This book is a "must-read" for everyone with a core or wider interest in this "hot" area of cutting-edge research.

Book Biometric Identification Technologies Based on Modern Data Mining Methods

Download or read book Biometric Identification Technologies Based on Modern Data Mining Methods written by Stepan Bilan and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-12-03 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book emphasizes recent advances in the creation of biometric identification systems for various applications in the field of human activity. The book displays the problems that arise in modern systems of biometric identification, as well as the level of development and prospects for the introduction of biometric technologies. The authors classify biometric technologies into two groups, distinguished according to the type of biometric characteristics used. The first group uses static biometric parameters: fingerprints, hand geometry, retina pattern, vein pattern on the finger, etc. The second group uses dynamic parameters for identification: the dynamics of the reproduction of a signature or a handwritten keyword, voice, gait, dynamics of work on the keyboard, etc. The directions of building information systems that use automatic personality identification based on the analysis of unique biometric characteristics of a person are discussed. The book is intended for professionals working and conducting research in the field of intelligent information processing, information security, and robotics and in the field of real-time identification systems. The book contains examples and problems/solutions throughout.

Book Computer Analysis of Images and Patterns

Download or read book Computer Analysis of Images and Patterns written by Wladyslaw Skarbek and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-30 with total page 757 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer analysis of images and patterns is a scienti c eld of longstanding tradition, with roots in the early years of the computer era when electronic brains inspired scientists. Moreover, the design of vision machines is a part of humanity’s dream of the arti cial person. I remember the 2nd CAIP, held in Wismar in 1987. Lectures were read in German, English and Russian, and proceedings were also only partially written in English. The conference took place under a di erent political system and proved that ideas are independent of political walls. A few years later the Berlin Wall collapsed, and Professors Sommer and Klette proposed a new formula for the CAIP: let it be held in Central and Eastern Europe every second year. There was a sense of solidarity with scienti c communities in those countries that found themselves in a state of transition to a new economy. A well-implemented idea resulted in a chain of successful events in Dresden (1991), Budapest (1993), Prague (1995), Kiel (1997), and Ljubljana (1999). This year the conference was welcomed at Warsaw. There are three invited lectures and about 90 contributions written by more than 200 authors from 27 countries. Besides Poland (60 authors), the largest representation comes from France (23), followed by England (16), Czech Republic (11), Spain (10), G- many (9), and Belarus (9). Regrettably, in spite of free registration fees and free accommodation for authors from former Soviet Union countries, we received only one accepted paper from Russia.

Book Motion Based Recognition

    Book Details:
  • Author : Mubarak Shah
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 1997-07-31
  • ISBN : 9780792346180
  • Pages : 396 pages

Download or read book Motion Based Recognition written by Mubarak Shah and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997-07-31 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Motion-based recognition deals with the recognition of an object and/or its motion, based on motion in a series of images. In this approach, a sequence containing a large number of frames is used to extract motion information. The advantage is that a longer sequence leads to recognition of higher level motions, like walking or running, which consist of a complex and coordinated series of events. Unlike much previous research in motion, this approach does not require explicit reconstruction of shape from the images prior to recognition. This book provides the state-of-the-art in this rapidly developing discipline. It consists of a collection of invited chapters by leading researchers in the world covering various aspects of motion-based recognition including lipreading, gesture recognition, facial expression recognition, gait analysis, cyclic motion detection, and activity recognition. Audience: This volume will be of interest to researchers and post- graduate students whose work involves computer vision, robotics and image processing.
