Book Environmental Education and Networks in the Commonwealth

Download or read book Environmental Education and Networks in the Commonwealth written by Z. S. Murphy and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation into the current status of environmental education in the Commonwealth, with specific reference to the role of networks in promoting environmental awareness. An investigation into the current provisions for environmental education in Commonwealth countries was undertaken, complemented by a survey aimed at assessing the contribution networks may provide in attempts to promote environmental education in Commonwealth countries. The research identified the fact that environmental education is a wide spread methodology in Commonwealth nations, despite the fact that in many countries, environmental education initiatives are yet to be systematically undertaken. It was also seen that a number of networks are playing a key role in the dissemination of environmental information in Commonwealth nations, although the lack of a Commonwealth-wide environmental education network prevents developments to occur in a sustainable manner. A set of recommendations that may assist with the systematic development of environmental education in Commonwealth nations is presented.

Download or read book International Handbook of Research on Environmental Education written by Robert B. Stevenson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-05-02 with total page 578 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The growth in scholarship makes this an opportune time to review and synthesize the knowledge base of the environmental education (EE) field. The purpose of this 51-chapter handbook is not only to illuminate the most important concepts, findings and theories that have been developed by EE research, but also to critically examine the historical progression of the field, its current debates and controversies, what is still missing from the EE research agenda, and where that agenda might be headed.
