Book Textual Analysis of Environmental Compliance Assessment Program Findings

Download or read book Textual Analysis of Environmental Compliance Assessment Program Findings written by and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The United States Air Force (USAF) is committed to assessing environmental compliance; this is achieved in the USAF through the Environmental Compliance Assessment Management Program (ECAMP). These ECAMP audits are designed strictly to assess compliance performance at one point-in-time. They are not intended to assess underlying environmental management systems. This study provides insight into the USAF Environmental Management System (EMS) through a textual analysis of ECAMP data. The analysis discovers eleven categories that emerged from the data: performance, communication, documentation, coordination, training, guidance, notification, resource, human resource, material resource, and financial resource. These categories display a hierarchical relationship. This hierarchical structure exhibits more categories in communication-related definitions. The evidence suggests that the communication-related category accounts for the largest number of environmental compliance deficiencies. This study indicates that assessors should be provided training that enables them to document environmental audit findings in a manner that allows the data to be used to understand and improve existing EMSs.

Book Environmental Compliance Assessment for Army Reserves ECAAR

Download or read book Environmental Compliance Assessment for Army Reserves ECAAR written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 621 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The number of environmental laws and regulations has continued to grow in the United States and worldwide, making compliance with these regulations increasingly difficult. The Army Reserves chose to adopt a program that would include an assessment mechanism to identify compliance problems before they became notices of violation. The concept was to combine Code of Federal Regulations and Army environmental regulations, with good management practices and risk management issues, into a manual as a series of checklists. These checklists would tell what legal requirements were and what specific items or operations to review, and would list a point of contact for that item to help assessors review the questions, or protocols, quickly and easily. The results is the Environmental Compliance Assessment for the Army Reserve (ECAAR) manual presented here in an updated and revised version. This manual will continue to be updated to meet the changing laws and regulations regarding environmental compliance.

The U.S. Air Force has adopted an environmental compliance program that identifies compliance problems before they are cited as violations by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). Beginning in 1984, the U.S. Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratories (USACERL), in cooperation with the U.S. Air Force, began research on the Environmental Compliance Assessment and Management Program (ECAMP). This book was released on 1994 with total page 703 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In response to the growing number of environmental laws and regulations worldwide, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has adopted an environmental compliance program that identifies compliance problems before they are cited as violations by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). In 1992, the CDC developed a program to maintain compliance with all Federal, state, and local environmental regulations. The goal is to protect human health/ safety and the environment.
