Three messages given in an unknown city and in Singapore from the end of January to the beginning of February. The date and place of the first message are uncertain. The last two messages were given in Singapore in February. They are part of an eight-day conference held in Singapore at the end of January and the beginning of February. The records of only two of the messages given during that conference have been located. The three messages in this section are included in this volume under the title The Abolishing of Ordinances and the Making of Peace. 4. Twelve messages given in Palmerston North, New Zealand, on March 12 through 16. These messages are included in this volume under the title Experiencing Christ for the Church as the New Man, the Body of Christ, and the Bride of Christ. 5. Five messages given in San Francisco, California, on March 19 through 21. They are included in this volume under the title Experiencing Christ for the Building Up of the Church as the Body of Christ and the New Man. 6. Seven messages given in Los Angeles, California, on April 8 through 11. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The Life for the Preaching of the High Gospel.

Book excerpt: This issue of The Ministry contains a complete record of the nine messages given during the International Training for Elders and Responsible Ones, held in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, October 5-7, 2006. The general subject of the training was "Shepherding the Flock of God." These messages are a continuation of the training given in the spring of 2006 (see The Ministry, Vol. 10, No. 5). The burden of these messages is not about the technique of shepherding but about what we are in our person and how we behave in the church. This is according to Paul's word to the elders in Ephesus in Acts 20. He said, "Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock" (v. 28). We first need to take care of ourselves, to be shepherded in our own person before we take care of all the flock. Messages 1 and 2 show us that our shepherding must be according to the plan of God and the word of God, according to the teaching of the apostles, and according to God. These form the basis of our shepherding. Messages 3, 5, and 7 show us that our shepherding is in our living by the grace of God, in an organic way according to His initiation and with our cooperation, and in dealing with peculiarity. These are the conditions of our shepherding. Messages 4, 6, and 8 show us that our goal must be to shepherd the saints into the faith of the truth, into a life of living through dying, and into a life of prayer for the organic practice of the God-ordained way in the vital groups. Finally, in Message 9, if the elders are constituted with the basis, the conditions, and the goal of shepherding, the flock of God will be shepherded to know the Body of Christ. May the Lord speak to us His light-shedding and life-imparting word. Last of all, we include letters and reports concerning the recent gospel move in the Russian-speaking world.

During this period he visited Houston, Texas, for a weekend conference. From Irving he traveled to Europe and ministered in Stuttgart, Germany, until the end of May. At the end of his time in Germany, Brother Lee also visited Tubingen. At the beginning of June he returned to the United States, visiting New York City during the first week in June and then traveling to Irving and remaining there for two weeks before proceeding to Anaheim. The only record of his speaking during those dates was in a meeting with the serving ones of the church in Taipei on May 5. At the end of May Brother Lee visited Sacramento. There is no record of his speaking in that city. He returned to Los Angeles at the end of May and ministered there until the end of the third week in October. Then he traveled to Vancouver, Canada; San Francisco, California; and Spokane and Seattle, Washington, until the end of November, after which he returned to Los Angeles and remained there until the middle of December. From the third week in December through the first week in January 1974, Brother Lee visited Houston, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; and New York City. He returned to Los Angeles and remained there through the third week in March. The contents of this volume are divided into thirteen sections, as follows: 1. Ten messages given in Los Angeles, California, from February 20 through March 21, 1973. They were previously published in a book entitled The History of the Church and the Local Churches. 2. Three messages given in Los Angeles, California, on March 27 and 28 and April 27, 1973. They are included in this volume under the title The Kernel of the New Testament--the Divine Spirit with Our Human Spirit. Chapter 1 was spoken immediately after the messages published in The History of the Church and the Local Churches. 3. Four messages given in Houston, Texas, from March 30 through April 1, 1973. They were originally published in volume 12, numbers 3 and 4, and volume 13, number 1 of The Stream magazine and were also published in a book entitled The Indwelling Christ in the Canon of the New Testament.
