Book Engineering Properties of Shotcrete

Download or read book Engineering Properties of Shotcrete written by William R. Lorman and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The important technical information gleaned from a literature survey covering the past 55 years of laboratory and field experiences with mortars and concretes applied pneumatically (i.e., shotcrete) is presented. In addition to general facts concerning this method of construction, various physical properties of hardened shotcrete, which have been investigated by numerous researchers, are discussed. Insofar as strength and elasticity are concerned, hardened shotcrete generally is quite similar to hardened mortar or concrete made in the conventional manner and fully compacted. An experimental program is recommended for (1) developing supplementary data with regard to density, elasticity, and strength (bond, compressive, and flexural) of hardened shotcretes (premixed wet) made with 3/4-inch as well as 3/8-inch maximum-size aggregate, and (2) ascertaining whether or not comparatively small prismatic test specimens truly represent the engineering properties of hardened shotcrete in large wall panels. (Author).

Book Sprayed Concrete Lined Tunnels

Download or read book Sprayed Concrete Lined Tunnels written by Alun Thomas and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2008-10-08 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practising engineers on site, in the design office or in client organizations will find this book an excellent introduction to the design and construction of sprayed concrete lined (SCL) tunnels. The complex behaviour of the early age behaviour of the sprayed concrete requires careful management. This book covers all aspects of SCL tunnelling – from the constituents of sprayed concrete to detailed design and management during construction. Although there is a close interdependence between all the facets of sprayed concrete, few engineers have the right breadth of experience and expertise, and this urgently needs to be transferred to the wider engineering community. Disseminating essential information for tunnelling engineers, Sprayed Concrete Lined Tunnels is key reading for all involved in or studying the process.
