Book Explosives Engineering

Download or read book Explosives Engineering written by Paul W. Cooper and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-07-19 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This graduate text, and Cooper's companion introductory text ('Introduction to the Technology of Explosives'), serve the same markets as the successful explosives reference by Meyer, now in its 4th edition. VCH also published the International Journal of Propellants, Explosives, and Pyrotechnics. The resulting package would give VCH the major presence in the field. This text presents the basic technologies used in the engineering of explosives and explosive systems, i.e., chemistry, burning, detonation, shock waves, initiation theories, scaling. The book is written for upper-division undergraduate or graduate-level scientists and engineers, and assumes a good grasp of basic physics, chemistry, mechanics and mathematic through calculus. It is based on lecture notes used for graduate courses at the Dept. of Energy Laboratories, and could serve as a core text for a course at schools of mining or military engineering. The intent of the book is to provide the engineer or scientist in the field with an understanding of the phenomena involved and the engineering tools needed to solve/ design/ analyze a broad range of real problems.

Download or read book Army Materiel Command AMC Pamphlet AMCP written by United States. Army Materiel Command and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report is one of a series on Explosives. One hundred and ten explosive compounds or mixtures are listed alphabetically, with their properties, including composition variations. These explosives were selected because of their current or probable application to military use.

Book Propellants and Explosives

Download or read book Propellants and Explosives written by Naminosuke Kubota and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-06-22 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This third edition of the classic on the thermochemical aspects of the combustion of propellants and explosives is completely revised and updated and now includes a section on green propellants and offers an up-to-date view of the thermochemical aspects of combustion and corresponding applications. Clearly structured, the first half of the book presents an introduction to pyrodynamics, describing fundamental aspects of the combustion of energetic materials, while the second part highlights applications of energetic materials, such as propellants, explosives and pyrolants, with a focus on the phenomena occurring in rocket motors. Finally, an appendix gives a brief overview of the fundamentals of aerodynamics and heat transfer, which is a prerequisite for the study of pyrodynamics. A detailed reference for readers interested in rocketry or explosives technology.

Book Engineering Design Handbook Explosives Series Explosive Trains

Download or read book Engineering Design Handbook Explosives Series Explosive Trains written by ARMY MATERIEL COMMAND ALEXANDRIA VA. and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The handbook presents theoretical and practical data pertaining to explosive trains. It includes consideration of the various elements which, in considerable variation, may constitute the explosive train of an item. The main charge of an explosive item, such as projectile or warhead filler, is also covered. Data are given on the physical and explosive characteristics of typical explosives and references are cited in which additional data are found. Coverage includes development of the complete explosive train, from elements suitable for initiation of the explosive reaction to the promotion of effective functioning of the final, output element. The nature of the explosive reaction, method of transfer of detonation and measurement of output are discussed. Design principles and data pertaining to primers, detonators, delay elements, leads, boosters, main charges and specialized explosive elements are covered. The effects of environmental conditions and steps to be taken to avoid difficulties are discussed.

Book Fundamentals of Shock Wave Propagation in Solids

Download or read book Fundamentals of Shock Wave Propagation in Solids written by Lee Davison and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-05-07 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My intent in writing this book is to present an introduction to the thermo- chanical theory required to conduct research and pursue applications of shock physics in solid materials. Emphasis is on the range of moderate compression that can be produced by high-velocity impact or detonation of chemical exp- sives and in which elastoplastic responses are observed and simple equations of state are applicable. In the interest of simplicity, the presentation is restricted to plane waves producing uniaxial deformation. Although applications often - volve complex multidimensional deformation fields it is necessary to begin with the simpler case. This is also the most important case because it is the usual setting of experimental research. The presentation is also restricted to theories of material response that are simple enough to permit illustrative problems to be solved with minimal recourse to numerical analysis. The discussions are set in the context of established continuum-mechanical principles. I have endeavored to define the quantities encountered with some care and to provide equations in several convenient forms and in a way that lends itself to easy reference. Thermodynamic analysis plays an important role in continuum mechanics, and I have included a presentation of aspects of this subject that are particularly relevant to shock physics. The notation adopted is that conventional in expositions of modern continuum mechanics, insofar as possible, and variables are explained as they are encountered. Those experienced in shock physics may find some of the notation unconventional.
