Leur capabilité à survivre en rue détermine leur carrière mais celle-ci est également influencée par leur capacité à jouer avec le maillage institutionnel supposé les aider ou les contrôler. Leurs parcours de vie seront abordés par une analyse poussée des identités héritées (caste, religion, bagage familial et communautaire), de leurs identités acquises en situation de rue (activités quotidiennes, groupe de survie, drogues et violences physiques, morales et sexuelles) et de leurs identités espérées (rêves, projections). Présentant une typologie des dispositifs d'intervention existants, cette recherche abordera leurs carences et les effets de conversion ou de retour à la norme portés ou suscités par les ONG et les pouvoirs publics népalais. Les transformations en cours des politiques de protection de l'enfant seront analysées ainsi que leur impact réel ou ressenti par les enfants et les jeunes à la marge. Le paradoxe entre les discours institutionnels présentant l'enfant comme acteur de sa vie et de ses droits et la réalité des dispositifs intégrants trop marginalement les perspectives individuelles et le contexte interactionnel des sujets concernés sera décrypté.

He argues powerfully against those who refuse to acknowledge the interconnection between art and the structures of social relations within which it is produced and received. As Bourdieu shows, arts new autonomy is one such structure, which complicates but does not eliminate the interconnection. The literary universe as we know it today took shape in the nineteenth century as a space set apart from the approved academies of the state. No one could any longer dictate what ought to be written or decree the canons of good taste. Recognition and consecration were produced in and through the struggle in which writers, critics, and publishers confronted one another.

The focus will be on new priorities: boosting growth; employment and inclusion; strengthening governance; and reducing regional disparities and promoting grassroots development. Designing a national land-use plan will territorialize development by creating a more balanced national economic space. The new land-use scheme will be based on dynamic, competitive, regional economies in which the urbanization of regional capitals and secondary towns is sufficiently controlled to allow true development hubs to emerge.

Modern paediatric surgery has now been practised for three genera tions. The handful of pioneers who were the founders of our specialty worked mainly before the last world war. A few dozen of the inter mediary generation started work immediately after the war, while the new generation who are now dominating our specialty must be counted in thousands. Two factors have radically altered paediatric surgery as practised by the intermediary and the present generation of surgeons.

In this first sustained look at childhood memories as depicted in literature, Lorna Martens reveals how much we may have lost by turning our attention the other way. Her work opens a new perspective on early recollection—how it works, why it is valuable, and how shifts in our understanding are reflected in both scientific and literary writings. Science plays an important role in The Promise of Memory, which is squarely situated at the intersection of literature and psychology. Psychologists have made important discoveries about when childhood memories most often form, and what form they most often take. These findings resonate throughout the literary works of the three writers who are the focus of Martens’ book. Proust and Rilke, writing in the modernist period before Freudian theory penetrated literary culture, offer original answers to questions such as “Why do writers consider it important to remember childhood? What kinds of things do they remember? What do their memories tell us?” In Walter Benjamin, Martens finds a writer willing to grapple with Freud, and one whose writings on childhood capture that struggle. For all three authors, places and things figure prominently in the workings of memory. Connections between memory and materiality suggest new ways of understanding not just childhood recollection but also the artistic inclination, which draws on a childlike way of seeing: object-focused, imaginative, and emotionally intense.
