Book Anatomy of an Abduction

Download or read book Anatomy of an Abduction written by V Sudarshan and published by Penguin UK. This book was released on 2008-01-16 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘It was a bizarre situation. The negotiators were in position in Iraq. The kidnappers and the kidnapped were in Iraq. At the crucial moment, the transport company in Kuwait expressed reservations about the ransom.’ In July 2004, a convoy of KGL trucks drove into Iraq from Kuwait carrying eledronic equipment for the American occupiers, when the worst happened-three Indian drivers, three Kenyans and an Egyptian were ambushed, detained by unknown Iraqi dissidents and accused of collaborating with the Americans. A deadline was set for their execution. The countdown had begun. The abdudion drama that ensued had all the ingredients of a thriller: nail-biting suspense, high profile media coverage, intemational outrage at the plight of these humble workers, and political tightrope-walking. This gripping behind-the-scenes narration recounts what really happened in Baghdad when a team of negotiators was sent there and entered into secret talks through an intermediary whose very existence was not in public domain. Anatomy of an Abduction reveals for the first time the Indian crisis management team's handling of the situation over forty-four days in occupied, lawless Iraq. The book gives an insight into the pressures that governments have to face as more and more innocent people become pawns in global chess games.

Download or read book How to Think Impossibly written by Jeffrey J. Kripal and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2024-07-26 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "From precognitive dreams and telepathic visions to near-death experiences, UFO encounters, and beyond, so-called impossible phenomena are not supposed to happen, but do happen all the time. These are the kinds of fantastic experiences that Jeffrey J. Kripal takes up in How to Think Impossibly. The impossible, Kripal asserts, is a function not of reality, but of our present social constructions and subsequent perceptions and cognitions. In other words, we think these events and experiences are impossible, but they are only impossible within our historically constructed frameworks. In How to Think Impossibly, Kripal thinks-with specific individuals and their extraordinary experiences in vulnerable, open, and often humorous ways. These lines of thought interweave the mental and material dimensions of humanistic and scientific inquiry, resulting in a developing awareness in the reader that what we think of as the impossible is not impossible at all"--

Book Liminality and the Short Story

Download or read book Liminality and the Short Story written by Jochen Achilles and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-12-05 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a study of the short story, one of the widest taught genres in English literature, from an innovative methodological perspective. Both liminality and the short story are well-researched phenomena, but the combination of both is not frequent. This book discusses the relevance of the concept of liminality for the short story genre and for short story cycles, emphasizing theoretical perspectives, methodological relevance and applicability. Liminality as a concept of demarcation and mediation between different processual stages, spatial complexes, and inner states is of obvious importance in an age of global mobility, digital networking, and interethnic transnationality. Over the last decade, many symposia, exhibitions, art, and publications have been produced which thematize liminality, covering a wide range of disciplines including literary, geographical, psychological and ethnicity studies. Liminal structuring is an essential aspect of the aesthetic composition of short stories and the cultural messages they convey. On account of its very brevity and episodic structure, the generic liminality of the short story privileges the depiction of transitional situations and fleeting moments of crisis or decision. It also addresses the moral transgressions, heterotopic orders, and forms of ambivalent self-reflection negotiated within the short story's confines. This innovative collection focuses on both the liminality of the short story and on liminality in the short story.

Book Alien Conscious Sixty Years of Abduction Experiences

Download or read book Alien Conscious Sixty Years of Abduction Experiences written by Leonard Diamond and published by Gate Way Publishers. This book was released on 2004-11 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Alien Conscious Dr. Leonard Diamond provides a fascinating and wonderful look at human-alien interpersonal contact. He follows four individuals who have given him permission to discuss their life experiences - experiences they shared with Dr. Diamond during hundreds of hours of discussion spanning sixty years. The book offers readers a dramatic longitudinal picture of these four children from the age of four to the age of sixty-five, as they establish and maintain regular contact with a benevolent race of aliens. These aliens, from the planet Dollockinos (a small green planet in the Milky Way Galaxy), help the children to achieve and contribute to society. The Dollockians promote the childrens' uniqueness and very atypical creativity, utilizing a special chemical process which was unknown to the children for most years of their contact. All four children succeed with the Dollockian Plan and make exceptional changes in society through their education, their special intellectual qualities, and the manner in which they utilize their skills. Once their contributions to society were apparent, the Dollockians learned their work had been fruitful and they continued to enrich the society of humans. In Alien Conscious, the Dollockians also clear up many puzzling questions and issues for humanity, including the UFO "crash" at Roswell. Dr. Diamond also addresses areas such as junk science, prediction skills, mediums, and various other activities associated with alien contactees. He provides us with an excellent literature search, as well as explanations and discussions of many of the aspects of human-alien contact. The four contactees freely offer their information and Dr. Diamond gives us anintimate view of their relationships with the Dollockians, as well as their rich and varied experiences on Dollockinos.

Book Top Secret Alien Abduction Files

Download or read book Top Secret Alien Abduction Files written by Nick Redfern and published by Red Wheel Weiser. This book was released on 2018-11-01 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why and how the government monitors those who have been kidnapped by strange, unearthly beings with even stranger agendas, from the author of Final Events. For decades, people have reported close encounters with extraterrestrial entities. Witnesses describe being kidnapped by large-headed, black-eyed creatures from other worlds. Those same creatures have become popularly known as “the Grays.” There is, however, another aspect to the alien abduction controversy. Abductees very often report being followed and spied upon by military and government personnel. It is typical for abductees to see black helicopters hovering directly over their homes in an intimidating manner. Phone calls are monitored. Emails are hacked into. Strange men dressed in black suits are seen photographing the homes of the abductees. All of this brings us to the matter of what have become known in the domain of alien abduction research as “Military Abductions,” or “MILABS.” According to numerous abductees, after being kidnapped by aliens they are kidnapped again . . . by the government. These follow-up events are the work of a powerful group hidden deep within the military and the intelligence community. It is the secret agenda of this highly classified organization to figure out what the so-called Grays are really up to. And, the best way for the government to get the answers is to interrogate those who have come face-to-face with the UFO phenomenon: the abductees. Why is the government secretly compiling files on alien abductees? Is the alien abduction issue so sinister that it has become a matter of national security proportions?
