Book Parents Children and the Facts of Life

Download or read book Parents Children and the Facts of Life written by Henry V. Sattler and published by TAN Books. This book was released on 1993-06 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Father Sattler has written Parents, Children and the Facts of Life to help parents fulfill the extremely important duty of training boys and girls to be pure and innocent, and eventually to enter marriage with a noble and holy purpose if God calls them to that state of life. According to the official Catholic teaching, sex education is the duty of the parents, yet many parents still struggle to convey the facts of life to their children in a natural and inspiring way. Applying traditional Catholic principles to very practical questions, Fr. Sattler explains what parents should tell their children, when and how they should tell it, what moral and psychological dangers they must avoid, and what questions they should anticipate. His conversational and down to earth style provides parents with the confidence and practical wisdom to fulfill their role as their children's primary teachers of the facts of life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first comprehensive history of the Vatican’s agenda to defeat the forces of secular liberalism and communism through international law, cultural diplomacy, and a marriage of convenience with authoritarian and right-wing rulers. After the United States entered World War I and the Russian Revolution exploded, the Vatican felt threatened by forces eager to reorganize the European international order and cast the Church out of the public sphere. In response, the papacy partnered with fascist and right-wing states as part of a broader crusade that made use of international law and cultural diplomacy to protect European countries from both liberal and socialist taint. A Twentieth-Century Crusade reveals that papal officials opposed Woodrow Wilson’s international liberal agenda by pressing governments to sign concordats assuring state protection of the Church in exchange for support from the masses of Catholic citizens. These agreements were implemented in Mussolini’s Italy and Hitler’s Germany, as well as in countries like Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. In tandem, the papacy forged a Catholic International—a political and diplomatic foil to the Communist International—which spread a militant anticommunist message through grassroots organizations and new media outlets. It also suppressed Catholic antifascist tendencies, even within the Holy See itself. Following World War II, the Church attempted to mute its role in strengthening fascist states, as it worked to advance its agenda in partnership with Christian Democratic parties and a generation of Cold War warriors. The papal mission came under fire after Vatican II, as Church-state ties weakened and antiliberalism and anticommunism lost their appeal. But—as Giuliana Chamedes shows in her groundbreaking exploration—by this point, the Vatican had already made a lasting mark on Eastern and Western European law, culture, and society.

Book The Kingship of Christ and the Conversion of the Jewish Nation

Download or read book The Kingship of Christ and the Conversion of the Jewish Nation written by Fr Denis Fahey and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-06-23 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this work, Fr. Fahey explains the rights of Christ the King versus organized naturalism which is counter to Christ's rights. Christians are not only called to be holy and spiritual, but also to transform society according to the rules of God so that Christ reigns not only in heaven, but also in everyday society. Fr. Fahey speaks of the role of the Jews against this rule of Christ the King, explains their role in ancient and modern society, and their conversion to Christ the Messias. Modern society is grossly disordered, as any thinking man will readily acknowledge, and it can only be reconstituted by reestablishing the rule of Christ, and His Church, over all parts of society, from the top down. Though written in 1953 it remains timely because the subject matter remains pertinent to our day and age. Father Fahey is the expert on the rights of Christ in society, and a good place to begin to understand what has happened to our society, why, and the solution.

  • Publisher : Liturgical Press
  • Release : 2014-06-01
  • ISBN : 0814649459
  • Pages : 25 pages

Download or read book Gravissimum Educationis written by Austin Flannery and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2014-06-01 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sixteen official documents—constitutions, decrees, and declarations—of the Second Vatican Council are now available from Liturgical Press in the most popular and widely used inclusive-language edition translated by Irish Dominican Austin Flannery (+October 21, 2008). As the worldwide Church continues to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Council (1962–65), there is a great need in college classrooms and parish faith formation groups—as well as for individuals—to again have access to these documents in contemporary English. As Flannery wrote in his introduction to the 1996 edition, “The translation of the texts of the Vatican documents in the present volume differs from that in the previous publication in two respects. It has been very considerably revised and, in place, corrected. It is also, to a very large extent, in inclusive language. “I say ‘to a very large extent,’ because we have used inclusive language in passages about men and women but not, however, in passages about God, except where the use of the masculine pronoun was easily avoidable.”

Book excerpt: How great is the dignity of chaste wedlock, Venerable Brethren, may be judged best from this that Christ Our Lord, Son of the Eternal Father, having assumed the nature of fallen man, not only, with His loving desire of compassing the redemption of our race, ordained it in an especial manner as the principle and foundation of domestic society and therefore of all human intercourse, but also raised it to the rank of a truly and great sacrament of the New Law, restored it to the original purity of its divine institution, and accordingly entrusted all its discipline and care to His spouse the Church.
