Book Empresas Inteligentes y Sostenibles

Download or read book Empresas Inteligentes y Sostenibles written by Noris Steenstrup and published by Ediotrial Per. This book was released on 2024-01-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Productos y servicios inteligentes y sostenibles

Download or read book Productos y servicios inteligentes y sostenibles written by Llorenç Guilera and published by MARGE BOOKS. This book was released on 2021-02-05 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Sustainable Smart Cities

Download or read book Sustainable Smart Cities written by Marta Peris-Ortiz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-05 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides the most current research on smart cities. Specifically, it focuses on the economic development and sustainability of smart cities and examines how to transform older industrial cities into sustainable smart cities. It aims to identify the role of the following elements in the creation and management of smart cities:• Citizen participation and empowerment • Value creation mechanisms • Public administration• Quality of life and sustainability• Democracy• ICT• Private initiatives and entrepreneurship Regardless of their size, all cities are ultimately agglomerations of people and institutions. Agglomeration economies make it possible to attain minimum efficiencies of scale in the organization and delivery of services. However, the economic benefits do not constitute the main advantage of a city. A city’s status rests on three dimensions: (1) political impetus, which is the result of citizens’ participation and the public administration’s agenda; (2) applications derived from technological advances (especially in ICT); and (3) cooperation between public and private initiatives in business development and entrepreneurship. These three dimensions determine which resources are necessary to create smart cities. But a smart city, ideal in the way it channels and resolves technological, social and economic-growth issues, requires many additional elements to function at a high-performance level, such as culture (an environment that empowers and engages citizens) and physical infrastructure designed to foster competition and collaboration, encourage new ideas and actions, and set the stage for new business creation. Featuring contributions with models, tools and cases from around the world, this book will be a valuable resource for researchers, students, academics, professionals and policymakers interested in smart cities.

Book Knowledge Economies

Download or read book Knowledge Economies written by Philip Cooke and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2002-09-10 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book traces the theoretical explanation for clusters back to the work of classical economists and their more modern disciples, who saw economic development as a process involving serious imbalances in the exploitation of resources. Initially, natural resource endowments explained the formation of nineteenth and early twentieth-century industrial districts. Today, geographical concentrations of scientific and creative knowledge are the key resource. But these require a support system, ranging from major injections of basic research funding, to varieties of financial investment and management, tothe provision of specialist incubators, for economic value to be realised. These are also specialised forms of knowledge that contribute to a serious imbalance in the distribution of economic opportunity.

Download or read book Intelligent Cities written by Nicos Komninos and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-05-13 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the turn of the century some cities and regions in Europe, Japan and the USA, displayed an exceptional capacity to incubate and develop new knowledge and innovations. The favourable environment for research, technology and innovation created in these areas was not immediately obvious, yet it was of great significance for a development based on knowledge, learning, and innovation. Intelligent Cities focuses on these environments of innovation, and the major models (technopoles, innovating regions, intelligent cities) for creating an environment-supporting technology, innovation, learning, and knowledge-based development. The introduction and the first chapter deal with innovation as an environmental condition, and with the geography and typology of islands of innovation. The next three parts focus on the theoretical paradigms and the planning models of the 'industrial district', the innovating region', and the 'intelligent city', which offer three alternative ways to create an environment of innovation.

This book was released on 2024-05-29 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book Humanistic Management in Practice

Download or read book Humanistic Management in Practice written by Ernst von Kimakowitz and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-02-15 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book demonstrates how principles of a Humanistic Management paradigm are practiced in a variety of industries and regions by businesses of different ownership structures and sizes. What unites these businesses is their commitment to the three stepped approach of Humanistic Management, which is grounded in unconditional respect for the dignity of life, the integration of ethics in management decisions, and active engagement with stakeholders. These businesses are not labeled social enterprises, but operate within the mainstream of competitive markets. However, they do have a deep sense of responsibility towards the communities in which they operate and act accordingly, knowing that sustaining business success over time depends on a value proposition to society at large. The cases featured in this book serve to clarify that businesses can thrive not despite but because they are upholding principles of Humanistic Management. It will be valuable reading for academics working in the field of business ethics, sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
