Bailey and published by Universal-Publishers. This book was released on 2009-07-27 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation examined the interrelationship of organizational culture; macro (structural) and micro (psychological) empowerment; and job satisfaction. Specifically, this dissertation: (1) built upon the insights and framework of prior research literature that suggest the relationship of macro (structural) and micro (psychological) empowerment and its effect on job satisfaction (2) expanded existing empowerment models by introducing organizational culture as an influential organizational phenomenon (3) assessed the level of degree how organizational subculture groups perceive organizational culture, macro (structural) and micro (psychological) empowerment; and job satisfaction contextual attributes. The dissertation utilized mixed method research combining both a quantitative and qualitative study with a triangulation of methods. The quantitative study employed a sample of 258 federal government employees and used hierarchical linear modeling techniques, multiple regression, hierarchical regression analysis, and independent T-test of sample means to test for main and mediator effects. The qualitative study employed a sample of 69 federal government employees and used open-ended content analysis to analyze data. Results from the quantitative study revealed that there are strong and positive relationships of organizational culture; macro empowerment, micro empowerment; and job satisfaction. Further, the quantitative study revealed that occupational subculture influences the level of perception of organizational culture; macro and micro empowerment; and job satisfaction. Results from the qualitative study provided rich and robust descriptive results complementing the quantitative study.

Book Employee Perceptions about Self efficacy and Training Satisfaction

Download or read book Employee Perceptions about Self efficacy and Training Satisfaction written by Stephenie Schroth and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An expanding convenience store company with over 530 locations in six states implemented a Trainer Store/Performance Development Specialist (TPDS) model as part of a pilot program to reduce turnover. The data from the pilot program demonstrated that the TPDS model was effective in reducing turnover. The purpose of this study was to better understand how employees perceived self-efficacy and training satisfaction through the lens of social learning theory which states that individuals learn in a social context through observation, modeling, and reinforcement. An online survey was administered to employees who were recently hired for the role of salesperson to determine the parallel to social learning theory, self-efficacy, and training satisfaction, particularly with the training session, training content, trainer, and transfer of learning from training to work. The study surveyed 98 employees who completed their training in one of three models (Home Store/Mentor (HM), Trainer Store/Mentor (TM), or TPDS). The researcher investigated whether the TPDS model was perceived by trainees as better aligned with social learning theory than the other models. The researcher also examined the Trainer Store model compared with the Home Store model. The results indicate that overall there were no apparent differences between the three models (HM, TM, or TPDS) or the two models (Home Store or Trainer Store) in terms of the training session, trainer, or transfer of learning from training to work. However, the results indicate that there may have been a difference between the models with regard to the trainees perceptions of the training content. Based on the relatively small amount of data that was gathered, the training content of the TM model appears to have been perceived as better than content in the other models, HM and TPDS. However, the results of this research should be considered tentative, given the low number of respondents. More research is warranted. There were several limitations with this research study. One limitation was the demographics and locations of the Trainer Stores. The Trainer Stores were selected based on historical data of areas of high turnover. Another limitation was the use of a survey tool as the primary instrument, particularly the use of Likert scales for measuring satisfaction. There is the potential for measurement error by having wrong, or inappropriately worded, anchors. And, a third limitation was the low number of respondents. Out of approximately 328 employees, 98 completed the survey in its entirety, which resulted in a 30% response rate. The TPDS model had approximately a 5% response rate. The TM model had approximately an 8% response rate. And, the HM model had approximately a 44% response rate. The Trainer Store response rate was approximately 45% and the Home Store response rate was approximately 55%. The limitation and reduction of the population to only 20% of the eligible employees and lower than expected response and completion rates has reduced the validity of the study.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An action guide and macro-level understanding of the process required to foster the workplace culture envisioned in Empowerment Takes More Than a Minute. As Ken Blanchard, John Carlos, and Alan Randolph clearly demonstrated in their previous bestseller, Empowerment Takes More Than a Minute, empowerment is not a goal that can be achieved in a minute. Empowerment is a process that requires ongoing effort, awareness, and commitment to transforming the hierarchy. This essential guide offers managers detailed, hands-on answers to their real-life questions about how, exactly, they can navigate the journey to empowerment. Written in an easily accessible Q&A format, the book closely examines and expands on the three keys to empowerment originally presented in Empowerment Takes More Than a Minute—sharing information, creating autonomy through boundaries, and replacing the hierarchy with teams. It clearly outlines the promises and challenges of each stage of the journey, providing managers with thought-provoking questions, clear advice, effective activities, and action tools that will help them create a culture of empowerment. Wherever they are in the journey, managers will find a clear roadmap in this user-friendly action guide.
