Book Calculated Electronic Properties Of Ordered Alloys a Handbook The Element And Their 3d 3d And 4d 4d Alloys

Download or read book Calculated Electronic Properties Of Ordered Alloys a Handbook The Element And Their 3d 3d And 4d 4d Alloys written by C B Sommers and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-04-28 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a handbook of calculated electronic properties of elements and of 3d/3d and 4d/4d ordered alloys. The book derives the ground-state or equilibrium properties of the metallic elements in both bcc and fcc structures, and of existing and nonexisting ordered binary transition-metal alloys in CsCl, CuAu, and Cu3Au structures by the analysis of binding curves, or total energy vs. volume curves, calculated from first-principles augmented-spherical-wave methods. The calculated properties, energy bands along symmetry lines in the respective Brillouin zones, and the total and I-decomposed density-of-states for each constituent is presented in a convenient single-page format. The calculated quantities presented include lattice constants, total energies, bulk moduli, potential at the nucleus, and charge densities at the nucleus and in the interstitial regions.

Book Finite Element Methods for Engineering Sciences

Download or read book Finite Element Methods for Engineering Sciences written by Joel Chaskalovic and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-09-16 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This self-tutorial offers a concise yet thorough grounding in the mathematics necessary for successfully applying FEMs to practical problems in science and engineering. The unique approach first summarizes and outlines the finite-element mathematics in general and then, in the second and major part, formulates problem examples that clearly demonstrate the techniques of functional analysis via numerous and diverse exercises. The solutions of the problems are given directly afterwards. Using this approach, the author motivates and encourages the reader to actively acquire the knowledge of finite-element methods instead of passively absorbing the material, as in most standard textbooks. The enlarged English-language edition, based on the original French, also contains a chapter on the approximation steps derived from the description of nature with differential equations and then applied to the specific model to be used. Furthermore, an introduction to tensor calculus using distribution theory offers further insight for readers with different mathematical backgrounds.

Book hp Finite Element Methods for Singular Perturbations

Download or read book hp Finite Element Methods for Singular Perturbations written by Jens M. Melenk and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-10-19 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many partial differential equations arising in practice are parameter-dependent problems that are of singularly perturbed type. Prominent examples include plate and shell models for small thickness in solid mechanics, convection-diffusion problems in fluid mechanics, and equations arising in semi-conductor device modelling. Common features of these problems are layers and, in the case of non-smooth geometries, corner singularities. Mesh design principles for the efficient approximation of both features by the hp-version of the finite element method (hp-FEM) are proposed in this volume. For a class of singularly perturbed problems on polygonal domains, robust exponential convergence of the hp-FEM based on these mesh design principles is established rigorously.

Book Introduction to Finite Element Analysis for Engineers

Download or read book Introduction to Finite Element Analysis for Engineers written by Saad A. Ragab and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-08-23 with total page 773 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now in its second edition, Introduction to Finite Element Analysis for Engineers is an essential introduction to FEA as a method to solve differential equations. With many practical examples focusing on both solid mechanics and fluid mechanics, it includes problems for both applications. Using a structure of classes of differential equations, the book also includes MATLAB® codes and aims to build a comprehensive understanding of FEA and its applications in modern engineering. New chapters present finite-element models of a system of partial differential equations in two or more independent variables typified by problems in theory of elasticity and plates. Chapter ten presents the finite element method for a nonlinear Mindlin-Reissner plate, and panel flutter is included as a typical example of fluid-structure interactions. The book demonstrates the power and versatility of FEA as a tool with a large number of examples of practical engineering problems. These problems range from those which can be solved without a computer, to those requiring MATLAB® or Python. With applications in civil, mechanical, aerospace, and biomedical engineering, the textbook is ideal for senior undergraduate and first-year graduate students and also aligns with mathematics courses.

Book Elements of Numerical Relativity

Download or read book Elements of Numerical Relativity written by Carles Bona and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-07-07 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spurred by the current development of numerous large-scale projects for detecting gravitational radiation, with the aim to open a completely new window to the observable Universe, numerical relativity has become a major field of research over the past years. Indeed, numerical relativity is the standard approach when studying potential sources of gravitational waves, where strong fields and relativistic velocities are part of any physical scenario. This book can be considered a primer for both graduate students and non-specialist researchers wishing to enter the field. Starting from the most basic insights and aspects of numerical relativity, Elements of Numerical Relativity develops coherent guidelines for the reliable and convenient selection of each of the following key aspects: evolution formalism, gauge, initial and boundary conditions as well as various numerical algorithms. The tests and applications proposed in this book can be performed on a standard PC.
