Book High Angle of Attack Aerodynamics

Download or read book High Angle of Attack Aerodynamics written by Josef Rom and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aerodynamics of aircraft at high angles of attack is a subject which is being pursued diligently, because the modern agile fighter aircraft and many of the current generation of missiles must perform well at very high incidence, near and beyond stall. However, a comprehensive presentation of the methods and results applicable to the studies of the complex aerodynamics at high angle of attack has not been covered in monographs or textbooks. This book is not the usual textbook in that it goes beyond just presenting the basic theoretical and experimental know-how, since it contains reference material to practical calculation methods and technical and experimental results which can be useful to the practicing aerospace engineers and scientists. It can certainly be used as a text and reference book for graduate courses on subjects related to high angles of attack aerodynamics and for topics related to three-dimensional separation in viscous flow courses. In addition, the book is addressed to the aerodynamicist interested in a comprehensive reference to methods of analysis and computations of high angle of attack flow phenomena and is written for the aerospace scientist and engineer who is familiar with the basic concepts of viscous and inviscid flows and with computational methods used in fluid dynamics.

Book Elements of Aerodynamics

Download or read book Elements of Aerodynamics written by Oscar Biblarz and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2023-01-05 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ELEMENTS OF AERODYNAMICS An accessible and hands-on textbook filled with chapter objectives, examples, practice problems, sample tests, and an online aero-calculator In Elements of Aerodynamics, Professor Oscar Biblarz delivers a concise and fundamentals-oriented approach to aerodynamics suitable for both undergraduate and graduate-level students. The text offers numerous problems, examples, and check tests, allowing readers to gain and cement their knowledge through hands-on practice. Using a unique blend of fundamentals, the book provides students with a new approach to high lift airfoils including examples designed to complement the theory. It covers the most vital information on incompressible and compressible flow over two-dimensional and three-dimensional wings. A companion website that includes an interactive aero-calculator and additional student resources makes this a suitable text for online, hybrid, and distance learning. Readers will also find: A concise introduction to units and notation with discussion of the proper usage of dimensionless coefficients in aerodynamics, featuring descriptions of airflow as an incompressible and compressible low-viscosity medium past streamlined wings Comprehensive re-evaluation of the fundamentals of fluid dynamics, including the differential control volume approach and formulation of lift, drag, and pitching moments for thin, attached boundary layers over slender wings at high angles of attack Practical applications of mass, momentum, and energy relations, derived from Euler’s equation, Bernoulli’s equation, and the Kutta-Joukowski theorem Selected treatment of transonic and hypersonic aerodynamic aspects, including supercritical airfoils, the non-linear small perturbation potential equation, Newtonian theory, and hypersonic lift and drag Well-suited for students enrolled in an introductory aerodynamics course as part of an engineering program, Elements of Aerodynamics will also earn a place in the libraries of physics students and those interested in basic fluid mechanics.

Book Elements of Gas Dynamics

Download or read book Elements of Gas Dynamics written by H. W. Liepmann and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2013-04-09 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The increasing importance of concepts from compressible fluid flow theory for aeronautical applications makes the republication of this first-rate text particularly timely. Intended mainly for aeronautics students, the text will also be helpful to practicing engineers and scientists who work on problems involving the aerodynamics of compressible fluids. Covering the general principles of gas dynamics to provide a working understanding of the essentials of gas flow, the contents of this book form the foundation for a study of the specialized literature and should give the necessary background for reading original papers on the subject. Topics include introductory concepts from thermodynamics, including entropy, reciprocity relations, equilibrium conditions, the law of mass action and condensation; one-dimensional gasdynamics, one-dimensional wave motion, waves in supersonic flow, flow in ducts and wind tunnels, methods of measurement, the equations of frictionless flow, small-perturbation theory, transonic flow, effects of viscosity and conductivity, and much more. The text includes numerous detailed figures and several useful tables, while concluding exercises demonstrate the application of the material in the text and outline additional subjects. Advanced undergraduate or graduate physics and engineering students with at least a working knowledge of calculus and basic physics will profit immensely from studying this outstanding volume.

Book Introduction to Hypersonic Flow

Download or read book Introduction to Hypersonic Flow written by G. G. Chernyi and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to Hypersonic Flow has been made available to the English speaking reader because of its usefulness for those individuals desirous of obtaining an introduction to the subject. Written by an internationally acknowledged expert in the field of hypersonic flow, the book makes available heretofore unpublished Soviet work, as well as published work little known outside the Soviet Union. The author has however made every effort to include, where appropriate. Western references for the work he discusses. Starting with a general introductory chapter on hypersonic aerodynamics and aerodynamic problems, the remainder of the book concentrates on the inviscid, perfect fluid aspects of hypersonic flow, with emphasis on the fundamental concepts and rational methods of calculation. The book is directed to students of aerodynamics and gas dynamics, as well as to scientists and engineers interested in problems of hypersonic flight. The level of approach is such that it should prove particularly useful as an undergraduate and introductory graduate text.

Book On Two dimensional Supersonic Flows

Download or read book On Two dimensional Supersonic Flows written by Stefan Bergman and published by . This book was released on 1949 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In previous reports by the author, the method of operators has been applied to investigation of two-dimensional flow patterns of an ideal compressible fluid, mostly in the subsonic case. Using a similar approach in the present paper, the author defines two different operators which generate supersonic two-dimensional flow patterns from differentiable functions of one real variable. (An operator is any rul by means of which one function is converted into another.) Since operators of the type considered preserve many properties of the functions to which they are applied and since the theory of functions of one real variable is more extensively developed than that of solutions of the compressibility equations, the results can be used as a basis for investigation of supersonic flow patterns.
