Book Elements of a Powerful Tennis Stroke

Download or read book Elements of a Powerful Tennis Stroke written by Shmuel Goldberg and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book shares my personal knowledge of tennis. I am an amateur player. I started late, at the age of fifty-four. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but I always understand the game. It was impossible without knowledge. Years ago my frustration in skiing came to an end due to a picture that compared skiing to bicycle riding.* It was all I needed for skiing technique to become natural to me and to become an advanced skier in a matter of days. The necessity to find the "bicycle" of tennis to really start playing was obvious to me. My background made it possible. Actually, it was two "bicycles" two elements that constitute a powerful tennis stroke. Once found, my game changed from end to end. Implementing these two elements in a stroke and practicing them, rather than chasing a ball, became a major part of my training. Hitting the ball became a result of a well-designed tennis stroke. Identifying and understanding elements of a tennis stroke require knowledge in physics. Sharing this knowledge in a simple language is all this book is about: illustration of two elements that constitute every powerful tennis stroke and then presenting the forehand, backhand, and service as a combination of these two. *The Anatomy of Skiing by R. J. Sanders, MD

Download or read book The Inner Game of Tennis written by W. Timothy Gallwey and published by Random House Trade Paperbacks. This book was released on 1997-05-27 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The timeless guide to achieving the state of “relaxed concentration” that’s not only the key to peak performance in tennis but the secret to success in life itself—part of the bestselling Inner Game series, with more than one million copies sold! “Groundbreaking . . . the best guide to getting out of your own way . . . Its profound advice applies to many other parts of life.”—Bill Gates, GatesNotes (“Five of My All-Time Favorite Books”) This phenomenally successful guide to mastering the game from the inside out has become a touchstone for hundreds of thousands of people. Billie Jean King has called the book her tennis bible; Al Gore has used it to focus his campaign staff; and Itzhak Perlman has recommended it to young violinists. Based on W. Timothy Gallwey’s profound realization that the key to success doesn’t lie in holding the racket just right, or positioning the feet perfectly, but rather in keeping the mind uncluttered, this transformative book gives you the tools to unlock the potential that you’ve possessed all along. “The Inner Game” is the one played within the mind of the player, against the hurdles of self-doubt, nervousness, and lapses in concentration. Gallwey shows us how to overcome these obstacles by trusting the intuitive wisdom of our bodies and achieving a state of “relaxed concentration.” With chapters devoted to trusting the self and changing habits, it is no surprise then, that Gallwey’s method has had an impact far beyond the confines of the tennis court. Whether you want to play music, write a novel, get ahead at work, or simply unwind after a stressful day, Gallwey shows you how to tap into your utmost potential. No matter your goals, The Inner Game of Tennis gives you the definitive framework for long-term success.

  • Release : 2017-11-07
  • ISBN : 9781978025752

Download or read book Muscle Memory and Imagery written by Archie Smith and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-11-07 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why this book? Because it answers questions you may have wondered: "Why am I not getting better at tennis?" "Why do I take a lesson, end up hitting well, and then play lousy the next day?" It all relates to your muscle memory, or actually the lack of good muscle memory. Most of your practice and play do little more than reinforce the current shots that you want to improve. Little wonder you end up hitting like you always do when you play the next day, and then are frustrated because your game is off and you were hitting so well yesterday at the end of the lesson. It is muscle memory that makes your tennis game what it is, for the good or for the bad. If you want to take your game to a higher level you need techniques to create the muscle memory needed to win. This book is the science of muscle memory - how to avoid messing up, and how to optimize. Research and common sense suggests you can improve and have the good results stay with you - all with less time and effort. This book is the way to Better Tennis, no matter what your level - novice or pro. By practicing differently than you have ever been instructed, science suggests you can substantially improve your game. You achieve this by use of Muscle Memory Practice. This book tells how. Another path to Better Tennis is Imagery. Again, the science and research are reviewed. A plan to incorporate Imagery use is provided. With just a few short minutes per day of Imagery use, your serve, your return, and your game can improve. You win more points. This book tells how. Plus, there are even more paths to Better Tennis. Surely you will find something useful. Enjoy!

Book Essential Tennis

Download or read book Essential Tennis written by Ian Westermann and published by St. Martin's Griffin. This book was released on 2022-05-31 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The essential book from online tennis coaching sensation Ian Westermann, founder of EssentialTennis.com What’s the number one thing stopping you from playing your best tennis? Ian Westermann, founder of the world’s #1 online tennis instruction portal, Essentialtennis.com, will confidently say it’s an obstacle you probably never thought of: The ball. You might think this sounds ridiculous. The whole point of tennis is to hit the ball over the net and in, so how can the ball be the thing that’s standing in the way? In fact, this is why the ball is such an impediment: your desire to hit a good shot, with the right mix of power and spin, to a specific spot on the court, prevents you from striking the ball the way you should. In Essential Tennis, readers – players and coaches, alike – will learn how improving at tennis actually happens and how to easily implement these lessons and integrate them into better play on the court. Players will hit stronger shots, make fewer errors, and beat players who are currently beating them. Coaches will look differently at what it means to provide a student with a holistic learning experience. Essential Tennis contains technique-based instruction for executing groundstrokes, volleys, and serves, as well as progressions, drills, and mindsets players should incorporate. Westermann illuminates strokes, movement, strategy, and mental toughness – all proven to be successful over 20 years with clients of all ages and skill levels.
