Book Materials and Construction

Download or read book Materials and Construction written by James a Pratt and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-06-24 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Materials and Construction: A Text-Book of Elementary Structural Design The formulas given for solution of problems coming under reinforced concrete are taken for the most part from Concretel by Edward Godfrey, M. Am. Soc. C. E. These formulas were first presented by Mr. Godfrey in Engineering News, being quite thoroughly discussed, both favorably and otherwise, all of which discussion appears in the book mentioned. The formulas are notable for their simplicity; at the same time they point onto a definite result to be obtained which is an important factor for the beginner. The author has compared the formulas presented, with others of much more complicated arrangement and the differ ence in results is comparatively small. In dealing with this material we must keep in mind the fact that work is being done in an element which does not lend itself to refined calculations, and for which we have at best only very unsatisfactory formulas, if results obtained by their use are expected to check up with experiment. Paper No. 12502 by Gaetano Lanza, M. Am. Soc. M. E., is interesting and should be carefully read by teachers handling this subject with classes. Throughout the work the principles should be brought out by the teacher, in the solution of problems before the class. Book Reinforced Concrete Design

Download or read book Reinforced Concrete Design written by Svetlana Brzev and published by . This book was released on 2011-06-13 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the design of main reinforced concrete structural members in accordance with the limit states design method, and is based on the new CSA Standard A23.3-04 Design of Concrete Structures. The load provisions are consistent with the National Building Code of Canada 2005. The material in this book is presented in the logical order in which structural design would be performed in practice. The book takes a non-calculus based, practical approach to the analysis and design of reinforced concrete members, rather than a high-level theoretical approach. The authors use modern analysis and design procedures that are consistent with good design practice, teaching, research, and consulting experience related to structural design and rehabilitation of concrete and masonry structures, including buildings, municipal and industrial facilities. John Pao, MEng, PEng, Struct.Eng, is the President of Bogdonov Pao Associates Ltd. of Vancouver, BC, and BPA Group of Companies with offices in Seattle and Los Angeles. Mr. Pao has extensive consulting experience related to design of reinforced concrete buildings, including high-rise residential and office buildings, shopping centers, parking garages, and institutional buildings.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Replaces the well-known third edition of Morgan's Students Structural Handbook and presents a step-by-step guide to the basic procedures of design of the most commonly used structural elements, including beams, slabs and columns, as well as retaining walls.

Book Structural Concrete

Download or read book Structural Concrete written by C. B. Wilby and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structural Concrete discusses the design and analysis of reinforced and prestressed concrete structural components and structures. Each of the eight chapters of the book tackles a specific area of concern in structural concrete. The text first deals with the serviceability and safety, and then proceeds to the properties of materials and mix designs. The next two chapters cover reinforced concrete beams and slabs. Chapter 5 discusses column and walls, while Chapter 6 tackles reinforced concrete frames and continuous beams and slabs. The next chapter discusses design structures, while the last chapter covers prestressed concrete. The text will be of great use to undergraduate students of civil and structural engineering. Professionals whose work involves concrete technology will also find the book useful.
