Book excerpt: The CDF and D0 experiments at the Tevatron have used p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV to perform electroweak physics measurements. A program of precision electroweak tests of SM already started. Measurements performed are: W and Z bosons production cross section using different leptonic final states, dielectron Forward-Backward Asymmetry A{sub FB} and di-boson cross section production. We also report the prospects for the W mass measurements.

Book Recent Results in Electroweak Physics at the Tevatron

Download or read book Recent Results in Electroweak Physics at the Tevatron written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Run II physics program of CDF and D0 has just begun with the first 72 pb−1 of analysis quality data collected at the center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The Electroweak measurements are among the first and most important benchmarks for the best understanding of the detectors and testing the Standard Model. We present measurements of the W and Z inclusive cross sections and decays asymmetries, recent results in di-boson physics and searches for new physics which make use of distinct electroweak signatures.

Book Review of Physics Results from the Tevatron Electroweak Physics

Download or read book Review of Physics Results from the Tevatron Electroweak Physics written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We summarize an extensive Tevatron (1984-2011) electroweak physics program that involves a variety of W and Z boson precision measurements. The relevance of these studies using single and associated gauge boson production to our understanding of the electroweak sector, quantum chromodynamics and searches for new physics is emphasized. Furthermore, we discuss the importance of the W boson mass measurement, the W/Z boson distributions and asymmetries, and diboson studies. We also highlight the recent Tevatron measurements and prospects for the final Tevatron measurements.

Book Electroweak Results from the Tevatron Collider

Download or read book Electroweak Results from the Tevatron Collider written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present the latest results on electroweak physics obtained from the analysis of p{anti p} collisions at (square root)s=1.8 TeV. The large data samples collected with the CDF and D0 detectors at the Tevatron collider allow measurements of the top quark mass to a 3% accuracy and of the W boson to a 0.1% accuracy. Many precision measurements that test the Standard Model and probe its possible extensions are also described.

Book Electroweak and B Physics Results from the Fermilab Tevatron Collider

Download or read book Electroweak and B Physics Results from the Fermilab Tevatron Collider written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This writeup is an introduction to some of the experimental issues involved in performing electroweak and b physics measurements at the Fermilab Tevatron. In the electroweak sector, we discuss W and Z boson cross section measurements as well as the measurement of the mass of the W boson. For b physics, we discuss measurements of B°/{bar B}° mixing and CP violation. This paper is geared towards nonexperts who are interested in understanding some of the issues and motivations for these measurements and how the measurements are carried out.

Book Electroweak Physics at LEP and LHC

Download or read book Electroweak Physics at LEP and LHC written by Arno Straessner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-03-14 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During more than 10 years, from 1989 until 2000, the LEP accelerator and the four LEP experiments, ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL, have taken data for a large amount of measurements at the frontier of particle physics. The main outcome is a thorough and successful test of the Standard Model of electroweak interactions. Mass and width of the Z and W bosons were measured precisely, as well as the Z and photon couplings to fermions and the couplings among gauge bosons. The rst part of this work will describe the most important physics results of the LEP experiments. Emphasis is put on the properties of the W boson, which was my main research eld at LEP. Especially the precise determination of its mass and its couplings to the other gauge bosons will be described. Details on physics effects like Colour Reconnection and Bose-Einstein Correlations in W-pair events shall be discussed as well. A conclusive summary of the current electroweak measurements, including low-energy results, as the pillars of possible future ndings will be given. The important contributions from Tevatron, like the measurement of the top quark and W mass, will round up the present day picture of electroweak particle physics. This is an open access book.

Book excerpt: W and Z bosons are mainly produced via quark-antiquark annihilations at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Precision measurements with these gauge bosons provide us with high precision tests of the Standard Model (SM) as well as indirect search for possible new physics beyond the SM. I present the recent electroweak measurements related to single W, Z boson and diboson productions from the CDF and D0 experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron collider.

Book Detector Implications for Eletroweak Physics at the Tevatron

Download or read book Detector Implications for Eletroweak Physics at the Tevatron written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: D0 and CDF are two large, powerful, multipurpose detectors with outstanding tracking, calorimeter and muon systems that have done an excellent job in exploiting the Top Quark, b Quark, QCD, New Phenomena/Exotics and Electroweak Physics at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The upgrades of the D0 and CDF detectors will further enhance their capabilities for physics at the Tevatron. The addition of a magnetic field and silicon vertex chamber will open up new physical opportunities for D0, and the replacement of the plug and forward gas calorimeters with new scintillator based calorimeters will give CDF uniform calorimetry over all[eta].
