Book Gauge Theories of the Strong and Electroweak Interaction

Download or read book Gauge Theories of the Strong and Electroweak Interaction written by Manfred Böhm and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 796 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook gives a comprehensive summary of the gauge theories of the fundamental interactions. The authors stress the intimate connection between the basic experimental facts and the formulation of gauge theories of the strong and electroweak interaction. The concepts and technical tools of quantum field theory are presented. They are used to derive precision results of quantum chromodynamics and the standard model of the electroweak interaction of experiments in elementary particle physics. The book includes the latest experimental results and presents the actual status of the theory.

Book Gauge Theories of the Strong Weak and Electromagnetic Interactions

Download or read book Gauge Theories of the Strong Weak and Electromagnetic Interactions written by Chris Quigg and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2013-09-22 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This completely revised and updated graduate-level textbook is an ideal introduction to gauge theories and their applications to high-energy particle physics, and takes an in-depth look at two new laws of nature--quantum chromodynamics and the electroweak theory. From quantum electrodynamics through unified theories of the interactions among leptons and quarks, Chris Quigg examines the logic and structure behind gauge theories and the experimental underpinnings of today's theories. Quigg emphasizes how we know what we know, and in the era of the Large Hadron Collider, his insightful survey of the standard model and the next great questions for particle physics makes for compelling reading. The brand-new edition shows how the electroweak theory developed in conversation with experiment. Featuring a wide-ranging treatment of electroweak symmetry breaking, the physics of the Higgs boson, and the importance of the 1-TeV scale, the book moves beyond established knowledge and investigates the path toward unified theories of strong, weak, and electromagnetic interactions. Explicit calculations and diverse exercises allow readers to derive the consequences of these theories. Extensive annotated bibliographies accompany each chapter, amplify points of conceptual or technical interest, introduce further applications, and lead readers to the research literature. Students and seasoned practitioners will profit from the text's current insights, and specialists wishing to understand gauge theories will find the book an ideal reference for self-study. Brand-new edition of a landmark text introducing gauge theories Consistent attention to how we know what we know Explicit calculations develop concepts and engage with experiment Interesting and diverse problems sharpen skills and ideas Extensive annotated bibliographies

Book Electroweak and Strong Interactions

Download or read book Electroweak and Strong Interactions written by Florian Scheck and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-10-21 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After an introduction to relativistic quantum mechanics, which lays the foundation for the rest of the text, the author moves on to the phenomenology and physics of fundamental interactions via a detailed discussion of the empirical principles of unified theories of strong, electromagnetic, and weak interactions. There then follows a development of local gauge theories and the minimal standard model of the fundamental interactions together with their characteristic applications. The book concludes with further possibilities and the theory of interactions for elementary particles probing complex nuclei. Numerous exercises with solutions make this an ideal text for graduate courses on quantum mechanics and elementary particle physics.

    Book Details:
  • Author : H. Mitter
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2013-06-29
  • ISBN : 3709140315

Download or read book Electroweak Interactions written by H. Mitter and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers contained in this volume are invited lec tures presented at the 21st "Universit~tswochen fUr Kern physik" in Schladming in February 1982. To consider electro magnetic and weak interactions as manifestations of a single theory is a standpoint, which is generally accepted by now. The goal of the school was to outline the present state of this unified theory and to discuss possible future developments. Thanks to the generous support provided by the Austrian Ministry of Science and Research, the Styrian Government and other sponsors, it was again possible to invite experts in the field as lecturers. The lecture notes have been reexamined by the authors and are now published in their final form to enable a larger number of physicists to profit from them. Since the lectures are already quite voluminous, we have decided to restrict the publication to the lectures themselves and omit all seminars, interesting as they were, as well as all details connected with the meeting. It is a pleasure to thank all the lecturers for their efforts, making it possible to speed up publication. Thanks are also due to L. Pittner for organisation and proof-reading as well as to Mrs. Krenn and Mrs. Neuhold for the careful typing of the papers. H. Mitter Acta Physica Austriaca, Suppl. Book Introduction to the Physics of Electroweak Interactions

Download or read book Introduction to the Physics of Electroweak Interactions written by S. M. Bilenky and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-12-20 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to the Physics of Electroweak Interactions is a six-chapter book that first elucidates the deep-inelastic and elastic lepton scattering on nucleons (both cases of polarized and nonpolarized initial particles). Subsequent chapter presents a brief history of the construction of the phenomenological V-A weak interaction Hamiltonian. Other chapters detail the Glashow-Weinberg-Salam unified theory of weak and electromagnetic interactions; the processes in which neutrinos take part; and processes due to neutral currents, deep-inelastic neutrino-nucleon scattering, elastic neutrino-nucleon scattering, and elastic neutrino-electron scattering. This book will be useful to those who wish to master the techniques for calculating the experimentally measured quantities.
