The National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) in India has provided a big platform for scaling up initiatives under E-Governance across the country. Though there have been a number of successful pilot projects under E-Governance in the country, a complete roll out will require successful handling of complex issues of system design ? process reengineering, work culture management, capabilities, organisational development, citizens? aspirations and so on. Consequently, there has been a burgeoning interest in deploying ICT, in revamping the public service delivery and eventually the overall system of governance. This book analyses e-Governance in India and argues that such initiatives did not take place in isolation but followed in the footsteps of broader governance reform agenda that has already made considerable impact on the discourses and practices of governance in India.
