Book Electro Hydraulic Actuation Systems

Download or read book Electro Hydraulic Actuation Systems written by J. Jaidev Vyas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-09-01 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book serves as a unique integrated platform, which not only describes the design methodology of electro-hydraulic actuation systems but also provides insights into the design of the servo valve, which is the most important component in the system. It presents a step-by-step design process, comparative tables, illustrative figures, and detailed explanations. The book focuses on the design and testing of electro-hydraulic actuation systems, which are increasingly being used in motion control applications, particularly in those where precision actuation at high operational rates is of prime importance. It describes in detail the design philosophy of such high-performance systems, presenting a system used as a physical test setup together with experimental results to corroborate the calculations. Of particular interest are the electro-hydraulic servo valves that form the heart of these actuations. These valves are complex and not much data is available in open literature due to OEM propriety issues. In this context, the book discusses the elaborate mathematical models that have been derived and an approach to validate the mathematical models with test results. Presenting the complex methodology in simple language, it will prove to be a valuable resource for students, researchers, and professional engineers alike.

Book Hydraulic and Electro Hydraulic Control Systems

Download or read book Hydraulic and Electro Hydraulic Control Systems written by R.B. Walters and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Force and motion control systems of varying degrees of sophistication have shaped the lives of all individuals living in industrialized countries all over the world, and together with communication technology are largely responsible for the high standard ofliving prevalent in many communities. The brains of the vast majority of current control systems are electronic, in the shape of computers, microprocessors or programmable logic controllers (PLC), the nerves are provided by sensors, mainly electromech anical transducers, and the muscle comprises the drive system, in most cases either electric, pneumatic or hydraulic. The factors governing the choice of the most suitable drive are the nature of the application, the performance specification, size, weight, environ mental and safety constraints, with higher power levels favouring hydraulic drives. Past experience, especially in the machine tool sector, has clearly shown that, in the face of competition from electric drives, it is difficult to make a convincing case for hydraulic drives at the bottom end of the power at fractional horsepower level. A further, and frequently range, specifically overriding factor in the choice of drive is the familiarity of the system designer with a particular discipline, which can inhibit the selection of the optimum and most cost-effective solution for a given application. One of the objectives of this book is to help the electrical engineer overcome his natural reluctance to apply any other than electric drives.

Book The Dynamic Characteristics of an Electro hydraulic Servo valve

Download or read book The Dynamic Characteristics of an Electro hydraulic Servo valve written by and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the design of hydraulic systems which include servo-valves it is usual to describe the valve characteristics using steady-state considerations. Demands of increased precision and speed of response placed on these systems in recent times have necessitated further investigation into the dynamic response of electro-hydraulic servo-valves.A survey of research carried out on servo-valve characteristics and the transducers available for measuring pulsating flow is presented in Chapter A new, indirect method for measuring the oscillating flow-rate froma servo-valve is described in Chapter 2. The theory of the technique and the assumptions used are discussed.Verification of the usefulness of the technique was obtained with an analogue model. Accurate prediction of the flow-rate from a valve model with both steady-state and frequency dependent characteristics was obtained as detailed in Chapters 3 and 4«An experimental apparatus is described in Chapter 5 for implementing the indirect method. Measurement of the component characteristics and parameters and the calibration and measurement of the dynamic responses of the transducers are described.Three models for a servo-valve are discussed in Chapter 6 and used in simulations of the experimental system. One model uses the measured steady-state valve characteristic whilst the other models are based upon the analyses of other researchers which are extended for application to the experimental system. In Chapter 7 the responses of the models and the experimental system are compared. It is found that the three models agree closely. Frequency responses of the experimental system and the steady-state model arepresented and a possible explanation for their difference is described. Frequency compensation is shown to greatly extend the useful bandwidth of the steady-state model for system design and stability considerations.
