This book was released on 2015-08-04 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electrical Instruments in Theory and Practice During the course of many years lecturing and working with instruments we have found the necessity for some work dealing with the theory beyond merely the first terms. It is hoped this book will meet with the approval of students in the higher classes, and of engineers. In many cases, and especially in the section on electric supply meters, the results of numerous experiments are compared with theory. The theory of the induction meter is extremely complex, and the explanations given are sometimes quite erroneous. We hope the views we set forth will prove useful. The instruments which have been selected are merely typical of those in use, and we propose completing the work by dealing with oscillographs, ondographs, and many alternating current instruments both theoretically and experimentally in another volume. Book Electrical Measurements in Practice Classic Reprint

Download or read book Electrical Measurements in Practice Classic Reprint written by F. Malcolm Farmer and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-11 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electrical Measurements in Practice The subject Of electrical measurements has received much attention in the literature of electrical engineering. In general, however, the treatment has been from a theoretical or academic point Of view. In this volume the author has endeavored to present the subject in a simple, practical manner and from the standpoint Of engineers who are actively engaged in making measurements, tests and investigations in the electrical industry. All classes of measurements that the laboratory and testing engineer is Ordinarily called upon to make have been covered. The method Of treatment and part Of the material is the same as that in the author's co'ntribution on this subject to the Fourth Edition of the Standard Handbook for Electrical Engineers. Instruments must naturally form a prominent part of any discussion Of electrical measurements, but detailed descriptive matter pertaining to commercial instruments has been limited to those instruments in most general use and without which the book would be obviously incomplete. Maximum demand meters have, however, been described rather extensively because they are a comparatively recent development. A short chapter has also been devoted to curve-drawing instruments because of their important part in commercial measurements and in laboratory investigations. Book excerpt: Theory of Oscillators presents the applications and exposition of the qualitative theory of differential equations. This book discusses the idea of a discontinuous transition in a dynamic process. Organized into 11 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the simplest type of oscillatory system in which the motion is described by a linear differential equation. This text then examines the character of the motion of the representative point along the hyperbola. Other chapters consider examples of two basic types of non-linear non-conservative systems, namely, dissipative systems and self-oscillating systems. This book discusses as well the discontinuous self-oscillations of a symmetrical multi-vibrator neglecting anode reaction. The final chapter deals with the immense practical importance of the stability of physical systems containing energy sources particularly control systems. This book is a valuable resource for electrical engineers, scientists, physicists, and mathematicians.

Book Electrical Measurements Classic Reprint

Download or read book Electrical Measurements Classic Reprint written by Frank A. Laws and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-09-15 with total page 736 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electrical Measurements In this book it is intended to give a general treatment of the subject of electrical measurements, special emphasis being placed on those matters which are important to the student of electrical engineering. In preparing a book of this character one has to consider, not only the mature reader who may desire a compendium of methods together with certain practical suggestions, but the student who is beginning the study of Electrical Engineering and who should acquire early in his course a sound knowledge of the process of electrical measurement. This knowledge is fundamental not only to much of the work which the student is required to do in the dynamo laboratory as a matter of engineering training, but to an adequate understanding of electrical testing as it is eu countered in the practice of the electrical engineering profession. In the preparation of the text this second class of readers has been particularly in mind. It is assumed that those who use this text have had courses in physics, the theory of electricity, and in mathematics, such as are given to third year students in technical schools of the first rank. Book The Cambridge Companion to the String Quartet

Download or read book The Cambridge Companion to the String Quartet written by Robin Stowell and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2003-11-13 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Companion offers a concise and authoritative survey of the string quartet by eleven chamber music specialists. Its fifteen carefully structured chapters provide coverage of a stimulating range of perspectives previously unavailable in one volume. It focuses on four main areas: the social and musical background to the quartet's development; the most celebrated ensembles; string quartet playing, including aspects of contemporary and historical performing practice; and the mainstream repertory, including significant 'mixed ensemble' compositions involving string quartet. Various musical and pictorial illustrations and informative appendixes, including a chronology of the most significant works, complete this indispensable guide. Written for all string quartet enthusiasts, this Companion will enrich readers' understanding of the history of the genre, the context and significance of quartets as cultural phenomena, and the musical, technical and interpretative problems of chamber music performance. It will also enhance their experience of listening to quartets in performance and on recordings.
