Book Electric Motors Continuous Current Motors and Induction Motors Their Theory and Construction

Download or read book Electric Motors Continuous Current Motors and Induction Motors Their Theory and Construction written by Henry Metcalf Hobart and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-25 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electric Motors Continuous Current Motors and Induction Motors Their Theory and Construction This treatise is characterised by considerable departures from conventional methods, and it is believed that more new light is thereby thrown on the subject than would otherwise have been practicable. The work is based on a series of articles just completed in Traction and Transmission, and what usefulness it may possess is due in large measure to the courtesy of many engineers and manufacturers who have so liberally supplied the author with examples of their modern designs. In a growing subject, in which one adopts improvements to the utmost extent that other considerations permit, thorough consistency is difficult to attain. To his friend, Mr Theodore Stevens, E. M., A. M. inst. C.E., A. M. I. E. E., who has carefully arranged the publication in its present form, the author wishes to express his sincere thanks. The author trusts that the present volume may in some small degree usefully supplement the excellent treatises of Kapp, Thompson, Arnold, Hawkins and Wallis, and others, which have been so helpful to him in his own practice. A table of usefully arranged data on copper conductors will be found at the end of the volume. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Field Orientation Principle in Control of Induction Motors

Download or read book The Field Orientation Principle in Control of Induction Motors written by Andrzej M. Trzynadlowski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Field Orientation Principle was fIrst formulated by Haase, in 1968, and Blaschke, in 1970. At that time, their ideas seemed impractical because of the insufficient means of implementation. However, in the early eighties, technological advances in static power converters and microprocessor-based control systems made the high-performance a. c. drive systems fully feasible. Since then, hundreds of papers dealing with various aspects of the Field Orientation Principle have appeared every year in the technical literature, and numerous commercial high-performance a. c. drives based on this principle have been developed. The term "vector control" is often used with regard to these systems. Today, it seems certain that almost all d. c. industrial drives will be ousted in the foreseeable future, to be, in major part, superseded by a. c. drive systems with vector controlled induction motors. This transition has already been taking place in industries of developed countries. Vector controlled a. c. drives have been proven capable of even better dynamic performance than d. c. drive systems, because of higher allowable speeds and shorter time constants of a. c. motors. It should be mentioned that the Field Orientation Principle can be used in control not only of induction (asynchronous) motors, but of all kinds of synchronous motors as well. Vector controlled drive systems with the so called brushless d. c. motors have found many applications in high performance drive systems, such as machine tools and industrial robots.

Book excerpt: Electric Motors and Drives is intended for non-specialist users of electric motors and drives, filling the gap between theory-based academic textbooks and the more prosaic 'handbooks', which provide useful detail but little opportunity for the development of real insight and understanding. The book explores all of the widely-used modern types of motor and drive, including conventional and brushless D.C., induction motors and servo drives, providing readers with the knowledge to select the right technology for a given job. Austin Hughes' approach, using a minimum of maths, has established Electric Motors and Drives as a leading guide for engineers, and the key to a complex subject for a wider readership, including technicians, managers and students. Acquire essential practical knowledge of motors and drives, with a minimum of math and theory Updated material on the latest and most widely-used modern motors and drives New edition includes additional diagrams and worked examples throughout
