Book El pensamiento filos fico latinoamericano del Caribe y latino 1300 2000

Download or read book El pensamiento filos fico latinoamericano del Caribe y latino 1300 2000 written by Enrique Dussel and published by Siglo XXI Editores México. This book was released on 2018-07-11 with total page 2590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Situating Existentialism

Download or read book Situating Existentialism written by Jonathan Judaken and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2012 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This anthology provides a history of the systemization and canonization of existentialism, a quintessentially antisystemic mode of thought. Situating existentialism within the history of ideas, it features new readings on the most influential works in the existential canon, exploring their formative contexts and the cultural dialogues of which they were a part. Emphasizing the multidisciplinary and global nature of existential arguments, the chosen texts relate to philosophy, religion, literature, theater, and culture and reflect European, Russian, Latin American, African, and American strains of thought. Readings are grouped into three thematic categories: national contexts, existentialism and religion, and transcultural migrations that explore the reception of existentialism. The volume explains how literary giants such as Dostoevsky and Tolstoy were incorporated into the existentialist fold and how inclusion into the canon recast the work of Kierkegaard and Nietzsche, and it describes the roles played by Jaspers and Heidegger in Germany and the Paris School of existentialism in France. Essays address not only frequently assigned works but also underappreciated discoveries, underscoring their vital relevance to contemporary critical debate. Designed to speak to a new generation's concerns, the collection deploys a diverse range of voices to interrogate the fundamental questions of the human condition.

Book Science and the Decolonization of Social Theory

Download or read book Science and the Decolonization of Social Theory written by Gennaro Ascione and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-08-12 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the ideological figure of modernity, its presumed historical significance as an era, and its theoretical adequacy as a frame. It shows how science is evoked to prevent the sociological imagination from elaborating non-Eurocentric categories and terminologies that are more adequate for a global age. The idea of modernity should not only be contested, but radically unthought in its foundational assumptions. These assumptions inform concepts such as secularization, emancipation, the 'global' and accumulation of capital. This book frees these concepts from ethnocentrism and discloses a path toward a new, non-Eurocentric, global social theory. Gennaro Ascione explores the transformative potential of decolonizing knowledge through a radical reconsideration of the historical and epistemological role that the intellectual reference to science plays in the construction of concepts. This ground-breaking work challenges social theorists to think globally beyond modernity, bringing together social theory and science in an unprecedented way. Importantly, it makes accessible a new space of missing theorization for further developments and inquiries in the field.

Book An Epistemology of Religion and Gender

Download or read book An Epistemology of Religion and Gender written by Ulrike E. Auga and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-03-26 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book puts forward a new epistemological framework for a theory of religion and gender’s role in the public sphere. It provides a sophisticated understanding of gender and its relation to religion as a primarily performative category of knowledge production, rooting that understanding in case studies from around the world. Gender and religion are examined alongside biopolitics and the influence of capitalism, neoliberalism and empire. The book analyses the interdependence of religion, gender and new nationalisms in the Palestinian territories, South Africa and the USA, scrutinising the biopolitical interferences of nation states and dominant political and religious institutions. It then moves on to uncover counter-discourses and spaces of activism and agency in contexts such as East Germany and the Occupy Wall Street movement. Using gender, queer and trans theory in tandem with postcolonial and post-secular perspectives, readers are shown a more nuanced understanding of critical contemporary questions related to religion, gender and sexuality. This is a bold new take on religion, gender and public life. As such, it will be of keen interest to scholars of Religious Studies and Gender Studies, as well as those working on religion’s interaction with Politics, Sociology and Social Activism.

Book Past and Present Political Theology

Download or read book Past and Present Political Theology written by Dennis Vanden Auweele and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-04-02 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book demonstrates how discussions of Political Theology have been a constant feature throughout philosophical modernity and that they continue to impact contemporary political debates. By tracing the historical roots and detailing the contemporary outworking of Political Theology in Europe, it contends that this growing field requires a broader "canon" in order for it to mature. Political Theology is shown here to be about the diversity of relationships between religious beliefs and political orientations. First engaging with historical debates, chapters re-examine the relationship between personal conviction and societal orientation on such topics as the will to believe, evil, individualism, the relationship between church and state, and the relationship between belief and natural science. The volume then establishes the relevance of these debates for the present day. As such, it invites engagement on the back and forth between religion and politics in a liberal democracy and a communist state, on how communitarianism relates to religious language, on the diversity of Christian and Jewish political theology, and the politics of toleration. By broadening out the field of Political Theology this book offers the reader a more nuanced understanding of its sustained influence on public life. As such it will be of interest to academics working in Political Theology, but also Theology, Philosophy and Political Science more generally.

Download or read book Teor a y cr tica del pensamiento latinoamericano written by Arturo Andrés Roig and published by Fondo de Cultura Economica USA. This book was released on 1981 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Una filosof a para Am rica Latina written by José Pablo Feinmann and published by Planeta Argentina. This book was released on 2018-05-03 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
