Download or read book Another Husband Sissy Story written by Mistress Jessica and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2012-06-19 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Well where do you start, I mean I never started out with evil intentions in mind, though I have to admit that was exactly where I ended up. My name is Sally and I am a Dominant Wife, I know a few people would consider me an abusive wife, and I am fine with that except the only difference is that my husband actually enjoys me abusing him. It wasn't always like that, when I married Bob we were the typical married couple, we went on vacations together and built our nest egg together and all that normal stuff. We were married for about ten years before things started to change, and I never once thought that I would be in the position I am in today. Let us just say that I wear the pants in the family now, and there is no way I am going to give up that power or control, it became like a drug for me, I never realized just how enjoyable it would be to be the power in the house, but when I finally realized it I was addicted to it and I threw that power around with a heavy hand. The simple fact that my husband submitted to me just made me even more power hungry, it was like I could do no wrong, no matter how much I pushed the boundaries of the new relationship that was developing between my husband and myself I always found him to be accepting of my authority. In fact the more my husband capitulated to my wants, desires, and demands just made me want to do more and more. I don't want to get to far ahead of myself because that will simply ruin the story for you, and we don't want to do that now do we. I guess I should start at the beginning though.

Book Feminine Sentences

Download or read book Feminine Sentences written by Janet Wolff and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-03-08 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new book integrates material drawn from a variety of sources - feminist theory, cultural and literary analysis, sociology and art history - in an original discussion of women's relationship to modern and post-modern culture. The essays in the book challenge the continuing separation of sociological from textual analysis in cultural (and feminist) theory and enquiry. They address critically the question of women's writing, exploring the idea that women may begin to define their own lives and construct their identities in a patriarchal culture through the very process of writing. They also present a cogent defence of a feminist cultural politics, including a politics of the body.

Book Dwelling in the Text

Download or read book Dwelling in the Text written by Marilyn R. Chandler and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2023-11-10 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is a house? And what can architecture tell us about individual psychology, national character and aspiration? The house holds a central place in American mythology, as Marilyn Chandler demonstrates in a series of "house tours" through American novels, beginning with Thoreau's Walden and ending with Toni Morrison's Beloved and Marilynne Robinson's Housekeeping. Chandler illuminates the complex analogies between house and psyche, house and family, house and social environment, and house and text. She traces a historical path from settlement to unsettledness in American culture and explores all the rituals in between: of building, decorating, inhabiting, and abandoning houses. She notes the ambivalence between our desire for rootedness and our romanticization of wide open spaces, relating these poles to the tension between materialism and spirituality in our national character. At a time when housing has become a problem of unprecedented dimensions in America, this look at the place of houses and homes in the American imagination reveals some sources of the attitudes, assumptions, and expectations that underlie the designing and building of the homes we buy, sell, and dream about. This title is part of UC Press's Voices Revived program, which commemorates University of California Press’s mission to seek out and cultivate the brightest minds and give them voice, reach, and impact. Book Interior Design and Identity

Download or read book Interior Design and Identity written by Susie McKellar and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2004-11-27 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This chronologically arranged set of case studies looks at how interior design has constantly redefined itself as a manifestation of culture, from the eighteenth-century to the present day. The book looks at the amateur activities of female "home makers" in search of creative outlets and married couples seeking to modernize their homes as well as the contributions of early professional (female) "interior decorators," and later, (male) "interior designers." It also considers the more anonymous role of commercial enterprises, such as hairdressing salons, cruise ships or modern offices. Issues relating to interiority, gender, and the relationship of the public sphere are also considered opening up a new level of design historical enquiry.

Book The Fragrance of Sweet Grass

Download or read book The Fragrance of Sweet Grass written by Elizabeth Rollins Epperly and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2014-01-01 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When it originally appeared, Elizabeth Rollins Epperly's The Fragrance of Sweet-Grass was one of the first challenges to the idea that L.M. Montgomery's books were unworthy of serious study. Examining all of Montgomery's fiction, Epperly argues that Montgomery was much more than a master of the romance genre and that, through her use of literary allusions, repetitions, irony, and comic inversions, she deftly manipulated the normal conventions of romance novels. Focusing on Montgomery's memorable heroines, from Anne Shirley to Emily Byrd Starr, Valancy Stirling, and Pat Gardiner, Epperly demonstrates that Montgomery deserves a place in the literary canon not just as the creator of Anne of Green Gables but as an artist in her chosen profession. Since its publication more than twenty years ago, The Fragrance of Sweet-Grass has become a favourite of scholars, writers, and Montgomery fans. This new edition adds a preface in which Epperly discusses the book's contribution to the ongoing research on the life and writing of L.M. Montgomery, reflects on how Montgomery studies have flourished over the past two decades, and suggests new ways to approach and explore the Canadian writer's work.

Book Just Looking Routledge Revivals

Download or read book Just Looking Routledge Revivals written by Rachel Bowlby and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2009-11-18 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The spectacular development of early consumer society in Britain, France and the United States had a profound impact on constructions of femininity and masculinity, and commercial and cultural values in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Focusing on novels by Theodore Dreiser, George Gissing and Emile Zola, Just Looking, first published in 1985, addresses itself to a central paradox of the period: the perceived antithesis of the terms "commerce" and "culture" which emerged at a time which saw the actual drawing together of commercial and cultural practices. Drawing on structural, psychoanalytic and Marxist-feminist theory, Rachel Bowlby retrieves a relatively neglected literary area for contemporary political and theoretical concerns, re-establishing the naturalist novel as a rich source for feminists, literary theorists and cultural historians.

Book Women in the Metropolis

Download or read book Women in the Metropolis written by Katharina von Ankum and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2023-09-01 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing together the work of scholars in many disciplines, Women in the Metropolis provides a comprehensive introduction to women's experience of modernism and urbanization in Weimar Germany. It shows women as active participants in artistic, social, and political movements and documents the wide range of their responses to the multifaceted urban culture of Berlin in the 1920s and 1930s. Examining a variety of media ranging from scientific writings to literature and the visual arts, the authors trace gendered discourses as they developed to make sense of and regulate emerging new images of femininity. Besides treating classic films such as Metropolis and Berlin: Symphony of a Great City, the articles discuss other forms of mass culture, including the fashion industry and the revue performances of Josephine Baker. Their emphasis on women's critical involvement in the construction of their own modernity illustrates the significance of the Weimar cultural experience and its relevance to contemporary gender, German, film, and cultural studies.
