In percentage there has been an increase of 29 per cent in the funds raised by local taxation in the rural districts, and 14 per cent in the funds raised by local taxation in the urban districts, and 18 per cent -in the annual available fund raised by general State and county taxation and appropriation in 1916 over 1914. Excluding bonds, loans, State appropriations, and the balance from the previous year, the whole amount raised by county and local district taxation for public schools during 1916 was an increase of over 1914. These figures show that during 1916 was raised for each child of school age enumerated in our State school census, for each child outside the cities and towns and within the cities and towns.
