Book Fast Facts Self Esteem

  • Publisher : FitzMaurice Publishers

Download or read book Fast Facts Self Esteem written by Kevin Everett FitzMaurice, M.S. and published by FitzMaurice Publishers. This book was released on 2024-08-01 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: • Self-Esteem Is the Enemy Within • Self-Esteem Is the Problem in Relationships • Self-Esteem Is the Problem in Performing • Self-Esteem Is the Problem in Spirituality • Recognize, Remove, & Replace Self-Esteem Collection of Tables • This book is a collection of tables that provide fast information regarding destructive self-esteem. • Self-esteem is the modern name for the ego; therefore, the tables are about self-esteem and the ego. • The ego and self-esteem are experienced as collections of competing self-constructions. Self-Constructions • Self-constructions are positive and negative mental objects, commonly known as positive and negative self-images and self-concepts. • These self-constructions are reified thoughts, also known as thought-things, and calcified, concretized, and crystalized thoughts. • Use our tables to cut through the jargon and get to the heart of how to recognize, remove, and replace the ego to stop it from destroying and interfering with your goals and life. Stop Being Self-Esteem • You don’t just have self-esteem because you identify yourself as it. • For example, if you are insulted or praised, you tend to collect self-esteem images of the insults and praise and think of them as yourself. • You might envision yourself as smart or stupid, beautiful or ugly, loved or hated. • However, you tend to think you are these mental objects (thought-things) instead of a being having them. Self-Esteem Drives • You often want others to see you as positive self-constructions and go out of your way to make that happen. • Likewise, you often don’t want others to see you as negative self-constructions and go out of your way to prevent that. • Again, it is not a matter of just having ideas about yourself; it is the problem of trying to live as ideas. • Wanting yourself and others to experience you as beautiful mental objects leads to the destruction of your authentic self and every form of emotional, mental, and physical violence. Self-Esteem Is Not You • These self-esteem (ego) representations of yourself are not yourself. • They interfere with your goals, performance, and relationships. • Putting human thought in charge cannot produce positive results because it has no abilities or powers. • Self-esteem (ego) is the enemy within because it is at the root of all human problems and misery. • Sometimes, you can claim to be positive things before or after a performance but not during because that always causes errors and failures. • Sometimes, you might use self-confidence to pray for good results and falsely credit self-confidence. • Looking inside, you will see that self-esteem (ego) is never responsible for anything other than interference and misdirection. • Self-esteem is silly nonsense that is, at best, empty words and, at worst, the center of your life as collections of dead things. Not All Tables Made Equal You will favor and respond to some tables more than others. Some tables have enough content to deserve a book; others only fill themselves. Focus on the ones that help you the most. Come back later and reread the book for deeper insights, more connections (neural links), and new relevant tables. The repetition of ideas in the tables will help you deepen your understanding by networking the ideas and applying them to new circumstances. The tables were originally published on our website at this link: https://kevinfitzmaurice.com/lists-and-links/quotations-topics/free-fast-facts/. We have Fast-Facts on many topics. The website link for this Fast-Facts series (self-esteem, ego) now points to this book. The original format has been changed. The original tables have been subject to being added to, edited, discontinued, improved, reformatted, renamed, revised, rewritten, and updated. And new and original tables have been added. Typically, the entry title in the table of contents comes from the title in the table; however, there are some exceptions because of space constraints or formatting considerations. Like in the original version, this version is organized alphabetically. This book will not be available as an audiobook because it consists of tables of information that are visually orientated, difficult to represent verbally, and impossible to read grammatically without change. Some spirituality and religion are included in some tables. However, they are optional for understanding or implementing the helpful insights, suggestions, and solutions provided. You can learn from any source you choose. Wisdom should be accepted wherever it is found. One should accept the truth from whatever source it proceeds. —Maimonides Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. —Philippians 4:8

Book Intimacy and the Anxieties of Cinematic Flesh

Download or read book Intimacy and the Anxieties of Cinematic Flesh written by Patrick Fuery and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2023-01-26 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a "return" to Edmund Husserl and Sigmund Freud, Intimacy and the Anxieties of Cinematic Flesh explores how we can engage these foundational thinkers of phenomenology and psychoanalysis in an original approach to film. The idea of the intimate spectator caught up in anxiety is developed to investigate a range of topics central to these critical approaches and cinema, including: flesh as a disruptive state formed in the relationships of intimacy and anxiety; time and the formation of cinema's enduring objects; space and things; the sensual, the "real" and the unconscious; wildness, disruption, and resistance; and the nightmare, reading "phantasy" across the critical fields. Along with Husserl and Freud, other key thinkers discussed include Edith Stein, Roman Ingarden, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Mikel Dufrenne in phenomenology; Melanie Klein, Ernest Jones, Julia Kristeva, and Rosine Lefort in psychoanalysis. Framing these issues and critical approaches is the question: how might Husserlian phenomenology and Freudian/Lacanian psychoanalysis, so often seen as contradistinctive, be explored through their potential commonalities rather than differences? In addressing such a question, this book postulates a new approach to film through this phenomenological/psychoanalytic reconceptualization. A wide range of films are examined not simply as exemplars, but to test the idea that cinema itself can be a version of critical thinking.

Book Classification in Social Research

Download or read book Classification in Social Research written by Ramkrishna Mukherjee and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1984-06-30 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important work is addressed to all researchers concerned with classification. It shows the serious limits of the traditional form of analytical classification. The solution it proposes, the inductive population approach, considers all possible cross-classifications in regard to attributes of the phenomena. This approach is theoretically grounded, avoids the tendency to generate excessively abstract constructs, and provides a clear way of linking empirical data with theoretically meaningful attributes of social systems. The last section of the book applies the method to kinship structures.

Book Selfless Love and Human Flourishing in Paul Tillich and Iris Murdoch

Download or read book Selfless Love and Human Flourishing in Paul Tillich and Iris Murdoch written by Julia T. Meszaros and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-03 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In an age of self-affirmation and self-assertion, 'selfless love' can appear as a threat to the lover's personal well-being. This perception jars with the Biblical promise that we gain our life through losing it and therefore calls for a theological response. In conversation with the Protestant theologian Paul Tillich and the atheistic moral philosopher and novelist Iris Murdoch, Selfless Love and Human Flourishing in Paul Tillich and Iris Murdoch enquires into the anthropological grounds on which selfless love can be said to build up, rather than undermine, the lover's self. It proposes that while the implausibility of selfless love was furthered by the modern deconstruction of the self, both Tillich and Murdoch utilize this very deconstruction towards explicating and restoring the link between selfless love and human flourishing. Julia T. Meszaros shows that they use the modern diagnosis of the human being's lack of a stable and independent self as manifest in Sartre's existentialism in support of an understanding of the self as relational and fallen. This leads them to view a loving orientation away from self and a surrender to the other as critical to the full flourishing of human selfhood. In arguing that Tillich and Murdoch defend the link between selfless love and human flourishing through reference to the human being's ontological selflessness, Meszaros closely engages Søren Kierkegaard's earlier attempt to keep selfless love and human flourishing in a productive, dialectical tension. She also examines the breakdown of this tension in the later figures of Anders Nygren, Simone Weil, and Jean-Paul Sartre, and addresses the pitfalls of this breakdown. Her examination concludes by arguing that the link between selfless love and human flourishing would be strengthened by a more resolute endorsement of a personal God, and of the reciprocal nature of selfless love.

Book Basic Psychoanalytic Concepts on the Theory of Instincts

Download or read book Basic Psychoanalytic Concepts on the Theory of Instincts written by Humberto Nagera and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-05-30 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1970, this volume describes in condensed but detailed form Freud’s development of the theory of instincts. As is well known, Freud reformulated and amplified his theory of instincts at several points during his lifetime. Such periodical amplifications and reformulations were made necessary by a number of factors, for as Freud gained experience he not only developed fresh insights but also was faced with the problem of explaining an increasing amount of clinical phenomena that offered itself for examination under the psychoanalytic microscope. There can be no doubt that Freud considered his theory of instincts as one of the corner stones of psychoanalysis and yet at the same time he recognised that it was an area where many of his formulations were necessarily of a tentative character and open to discussion and modification. In this volume the reader will be able to follow the development of Freud’s thought from his initial discovery of the duality of ‘sexual’ and ‘ego’ instincts and his recognition of the fundamental importance of the aggressive forces in human nature and behaviour, to the formulation of his theories regarding life and death.

It presents the latest research on Probability, Set Oriented Numerics, and Evolutionary Computation. The aim of the EVOLVE conference was to provide a bridge between probability, set oriented numerics and evolutionary computation and to bring together experts from these disciplines. The broad focus of the EVOLVE conference made it possible to discuss the connection between these related fields of study computational science. The selected papers published in the proceedings book were peer reviewed by an international committee of reviewers (at least three reviews per paper) and were revised and enhanced by the authors after the conference. The contributions are categorized into five major parts, which are: Multicriteria and Set-Oriented Optimization; Evolution in ICT Security; Computational Game Theory; Theory on Evolutionary Computation; Applications of Evolutionary Algorithms. The 2015 edition shows a major progress in the aim to bring disciplines together and the research on a number of topics that have been discussed in previous editions of the conference matured over time and methods have found their ways in applications. In this sense the book can be considered an important milestone in bridging and thereby advancing state-of-the-art computational methods.
