Book excerpt: When the brave knight rescues the beautiful princess, all that remains is a monster sized egg. Best friends Brynn, Alys and Dilan decide to take the egg home to Eggsville, the place where all the kingdoms' eggs are laid, and hatch the giant chicken inside. The only problem is there’s no such thing as a giant chicken. There are stories however, of fire breathing monsters guarding towers, and legends of great beasts roaming the sky at night. And now they seem to have brought one home, one that will surely require feeding. And what do monsters eat? Chickens of course, and lots of them! Soon, hatching the egg and dealing with the villagers will be the least of their problems. For a new arrival is imminent, one that is huge and dark and looks intent on destroying more than just a few eggs.

Book Ten Eggsville Eggies Sitting in the Hedge

Download or read book Ten Eggsville Eggies Sitting in the Hedge written by Dee Thomas and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2017-03-28 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the third story in a series about the eggs of Eggsville. This story was written for a topic I was doing on counting numbers up to 10 for the preschool I worked in at Camelford. I wanted the children to be able to count to 10 and recognize the written word as well. I also incorporated counting backward and forward as well. I wanted to introduce different ways of counting: rote, ordinal, cardinal, and nominal. RoteCounting to 10 (e.g., to self) OrdinalOrder of things in a set (e.g., sixth position in a row) CardinalHow many items there are (e.g., as the story says 10 eggs) NominalIdentifying items by numbers (e.g., telephone number) Also the written word ten means the same as the number 10.

They get up to all sorts of antics and never think of the consequences of their actions. Well there Mother, who is called Eggie May told them that she would take them on a special trip to the Eggville Zoo, if theycould stay out of any trouble for longer than a week. Buttheir Father, who is called Sargent Eggward Egg, told their Mother, that they probably wouldn't evenlast a day! Well how right he was. Hard Egg and Cracked Egg, well it all went wrong for them as soon as they frightened their Mother with that loud bang from the cracker they pulled behind her.The day just got worse for them, they made Softie Egg fall off the wall, caught poor Runny Egg and tied him to a tree, took Nurse Clucky's favourite garden gnome, tripped up little Chocolate Egg, were rude to Old Poached Egg, threw mud at their Auntie Eggstra's dress, kicked Old Egg Plant in the leg, pulled Chicky Egg's hair, even told lots of lie's. But they had not counted on being seen by P.C.Egg and being caught by P.C. Eggwin Egg. So alas they were both taken home to their Mother, who sent them to bed. And if you look through the book, I don't even think at time's they were really sorry at all, and do we believe those tear's of theirs with smiley faces, I don't think so. What do you think?

Book Twentysomething Essays by Twentysomething Writers

Download or read book Twentysomething Essays by Twentysomething Writers written by Matt Kellogg and published by Random House. This book was released on 2006-08-29 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Selected as the winners of Random House’s national contest, a stunning collection of essays ranging from comic to poignant, personal to political, by the brightest young writers you haven’t heard of . . . yet. Here, for the first time, current twentysomethings come together on their own terms, in their own words, and begin to define this remarkably diverse and self-aware generation. Tackling an array of subjects–career, family, sex, religion, technology, art–they form a vibrant, unified community while simultaneously proving that there is no typical twentysomething experience. In this collection, a young father works the late-night shift at Wendy’s, learning the finer points of status, teamwork, and french fries. An artist’s nude model explains why she’s happy to be viewed as an object. An international relief worker wrestles with his choices as he starts to resent the very people who need his help the most. A devout follower of Joan Didion explains what New York means to her. And a young army engineer spends his time in Kuwait futilely trying to grow a mustache like his dad’s. With grace, wit, humor, and urgency, these writers invite us into their lives and into their heads. Twentysomething Essays by Twentysomething Writers is a rich, provocative read as well as a bold statement from a generation just now coming into its own, including these essays “California” by Jess Lacher “The Waltz” by Mary Beth Ellis “The Mustache Race” by Bronson Lemer “Sex and the Sickbed” by Jennifer Glaser “Tricycle” by Rachel Kempf “Prime-Time You” by John Fischer “Backlash” by Shahnaz Habib “Think Outside the Box but Stay Inside the Grid” by Emma Black “Finding the Beat” by Eli James “You Shall Go out with Joy and be Led Forth with Peace” by Kyle Minor “The Idiot’s Guide to Your Palm” by Colleen Kinder “Sheer Dominance” by Christopher Poling “Live Nude Girl” by Kathleen Rooney “An Evening in April” by Radhiyah Ayobami “Cliché Rape Story” by Marisa McCarthy “Rock my Network” by Theodora Stites “Goodbye to All That” by Eula Biss “All the Right Answers” by Brendan Park “Why I Had To Leave” by Luke Mullins “In-Between Places” by Mary Kate Frank “A Red Spoon for the Nameless” by Burlee Vang “My Little Comma” by Elrena Evans “Fight Me” by Miellyn Fitzwater “The Secret Lives of My Parents” by Kate McGovern “My Roaring Twenties” by Lauren Monroe “In, From the Outside” by Katherine Dykstra “The Mysteries of Life . . . The world tells you you’re a grown-up, but damn if you feel like one. With 29 sharply observant and well-written snapshots of life between the ages of 19 and 30, Twentysomething Essays by Twentysomething Writers couldn’t have captured this more perfectly.”–Nylon “You’ll devour this compilation of essays by funny, smart, insightful young writers in just a few hours.”–Jane Magazine “If we are still looking for a voice for this generation, I’d nominate this eclectic choir instead.”–Orlando Sentinel
