Book The Effect of Particle Size on the Properties of Gas fluidized Beds

Download or read book The Effect of Particle Size on the Properties of Gas fluidized Beds written by K. S. Sutherland and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of a continuous method for determining changes in particle size and particle size distribution in fluid-bed systems has been studied experimentally. Differential pressure measurements were employed to study the effects of solid particle size on the behavior of gas-fluidized beds. The relevant bed properties are briefly described and a review given of previous work on the study of fluidized-bed quality. It is shown that, within certain limitations, measurements of bed quality can be used to indicate changes in particle size. Gas-bubble velocities, while increasing in proportion to the square root of bubble diameter, are also shown to be dependent on particle size, increasing as the particle size decreases.

Book Fluidized Bed Reactors Processes and Operating Conditions

Download or read book Fluidized Bed Reactors Processes and Operating Conditions written by John G. Yates and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-27 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fluidized-bed reactor is the centerpiece of industrial fluidization processes. This book focuses on the design and operation of fluidized beds in many different industrial processes, emphasizing the rationale for choosing fluidized beds for each particular process. The book starts with a brief history of fluidization from its inception in the 1940’s. The authors present both the fluid dynamics of gas-solid fluidized beds and the extensive experimental studies of operating systems and they set them in the context of operating processes that use fluid-bed reactors. Chemical engineering students and postdocs as well as practicing engineers will find great interest in this book.

Book Hydrodynamics of Gas Liquid Solid Fluidized and Semi Fluidized Beds

Download or read book Hydrodynamics of Gas Liquid Solid Fluidized and Semi Fluidized Beds written by and published by . This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two-phase and three-phase fluidized beds have been applied successfully to many industrial processes such as in the H-oil process for hydrogenation and hydrodesulfurization of residual oil, the H-coal process for coal liquefaction, Fischer-Tropsch process, and the bio-oxidation process for wastewater treatment. A semi-fluidized bed has the advantages of both the packed and the fluidized beds as it can partly over come the disadvantages of a fluidized bed, namely back-mixing of solids, attrition of particles and erosion of surfaces, and those of a packed bed, such as non-uniformity in bed temperatures, segregation of solids and channeling. Semi-fluidized beds have been applied successfully to many industrial processes (physical, chemical and biochemical)such as in the filtration, adsorption, catalytic reactions, heavy metal removal and recovery, coal pyrolysis, bio-oxidation, ethanol fermentation, granule tablet manufacturing etc.

Book Fluidised Particles

Download or read book Fluidised Particles written by J. F. Davidson and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1963-01-02 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the theoretical background to the behaviour of fluidised beds in a form suitable for teachers and students of chemical engineering and for designers of process plant. It is important because it approaches the subject from first principles of fluid mechanics to problems of a truly chemical engineering nature. At all stages the theoretical treatment is directly related to experiment. Such a synthesis, much of which is based on recent research work by the authors and others, should also help to guide designers in the scaling-up of experimental work on small apparatus to pilot and production plant.

Book Hydrodynamics of a Gas solid Fluidized Bed at High Temperature in the Presence of Interparticles Forces

Download or read book Hydrodynamics of a Gas solid Fluidized Bed at High Temperature in the Presence of Interparticles Forces written by Jaber Shabanian and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Due to a lack of proper measurement techniques at elevated temperatures, we approached this study by dividing it into two parts. The first part was aimed at exploring the fluidization behavior of a gas-solid fluidized bed at different levels of IPFs from global and local points of view. The second part focused on the hydrodynamic characterization of a gas-solid fluidized bed at high temperature while different levels of IPFs were deliberately introduced into a bed of otherwise fresh coarse particles. (Abstract shortened by ProQuest.).

Book Hydrodynamics Stydy of Conventionl cylindrical Fluidized Bed at Ambient Temperature

Download or read book Hydrodynamics Stydy of Conventionl cylindrical Fluidized Bed at Ambient Temperature written by and published by . This book was released on with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now a days, the fluidized bed has got an vital application in the industial world . It is very much necessary to have the idea about the particle shape, type of distributor, minimum fluidization velocity, voidage, sphericity of particle etc in order to achieve the proper functioning of fluidized beds. In this present work, hydrodynamic of fluidized bed with regular particles was studied. The hydrodynamic behavior like pressure drop, minimum fluidization velocity accounting with different parameters were determined and they compared with the theoretical value. The present work is been focussed on understanding the hydrodynamic behaviour in a gas-solid two phase fluidized bed. Hematite powder of size 10 micrometer, sand particle ranging from 0.2 mm to 0.73 mm and dolomite particle from 0.03mm to 0.53mm are used as the solid phase. The fluidization operation had been carried out with air as gas phase and the hematite powder, sand and dolomite in the fluidizing cylinder . Superficial velocity of gas has been varied in the range of 0 to 0.8 m/s . The static bed heights of the solid phase in the fluidized bed used are taken from 2cm to 8.5 cm.
