Book Prediction of Multipath Fading on Terrestrial Microwave Links at Frequencies of 11 GHz and Greater

Download or read book Prediction of Multipath Fading on Terrestrial Microwave Links at Frequencies of 11 GHz and Greater written by D. D. Crombie and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published data on the probability of multipath fading on different paths with lengths up to 45 km, at frequencies up to 37 GHz, measured in different countries, have been analyzed. For the paths which have probabilities greater than approx 1/1000% for 20 dB fades, it is found that the fading probability increases with antenna beam width. In addition, it is found that increasing the clearance of the path above surrounding terrain reduces the fading probability. Inclusion of these two variables, in addition to frequency and path length, reduces the uncertainty in prediction of fading probability by a factor of 80. (Author).

Book Introduction to SNG and ENG Microwave

Download or read book Introduction to SNG and ENG Microwave written by Jonathan Higgins and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2013-07-31 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An excellent primer on the subject, this book gives beginning professionals in satellite newsgathering an introduction to the technologies and processes involved. It will also suit journalists, editors and producers needing to understand this important element of the newsgathering chain. Written for the complete beginner, the book shows how typical transmission chains work and their communication with the studio. It also offers a brief introduction to analogue and digital theory before going onto to explain Electronic Newsgathering (ENG) systems: from basic principles: transmission and reception chains, frequencies used and why, through to audio channel, subcarriers and digital modulation, as well as applications: radio cameras, window links, infra-red & laser links. A brief chapter on satellite theory gives an overview of satellite communication and orbits, basic satellite communication theory, transportables (`flyaways') and trucks, as well as analogue vs digital issues, digital compression and MPEG. Systems regulations and operations are also introduced as well as safety and logistics issues. If you're looking for a quick and easy introduction to the subject, this book will act as an essential on the job reference guide.

Book Radio Path Length Stability of Ground to ground Microwave Links

Download or read book Radio Path Length Stability of Ground to ground Microwave Links written by Moody Chalmers Thompson and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A series of eight field experiments were conducted in 1958 and 1959 to study the variation in the apparent path length of ground-to-ground microwave links (i.e., the variations in phase of 9400 Mc/s signals) and the corresponding variations in radio refractive index and other atm * ospheric parameters measured at the path terminals. The report summarizes the results obtained on paths in Colorado and Florida. It also includes an analysis of long-term variations in the apparent path length and associated variables recorded during each experiment, and a power spectrum analysis of short-term variations in apparent path length and refractivity.(Author).

Book Microwave System Engineering Principles

Download or read book Microwave System Engineering Principles written by Samuel J. Raff and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microwave System Engineering Principles focuses on the calculus, differential equations, and transforms of microwave systems. This book discusses the basic nature and principles that can be derived from thermal noise; statistical concepts and binomial distribution; incoherent signal processing; basic properties of antennas; and beam widths and useful approximations. The fundamentals of propagation; LaPlace's Equation and Transmission Line (TEM) waves; interfaces between homogeneous media; modulation, bandwidth, and noise; and communications satellites are also deliberated in this text. This book is a good source for students and individuals intending to gain knowledge on numbers, formulas, and relationships relevant to the field of microwaves.

Book Radio Path Length Stability of Ground To Ground Microwave Links Classic Reprint

Download or read book Radio Path Length Stability of Ground To Ground Microwave Links Classic Reprint written by M. C. Thompson Jr. and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-28 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Radio Path Length Stability of Ground-to-Ground Microwave Links The fourth run was made over a 3. 2. Km path near Boulder in June (figures 5 and again using a 9400 Mc/s signal. This run supplied information on path length stability over a path longer than that used in February, but one having the same flat terrain and low antenna heights, thereby ensuring the existence of ground reflections.
