Book Accelerations and Passenger Harness Loads Measured in Full scale Light airplane Crashes

Download or read book Accelerations and Passenger Harness Loads Measured in Full scale Light airplane Crashes written by A. Martin Eiband and published by . This book was released on 1953 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Full-scale light-airplane crashes simulating stall-spin accidents were conducted to determine the decelerations to which occupants are exposed and the resulting harness forces encountered in this type of accident. Crashes at impact speeds from 42 to 60 miles per hour were studied. The airplanes used were of the familiar steel-tube, fabric-covered, tandem, two-seat type.

Book Experimental Investigation of Velocity Distributions Downstream of Single Duct Bends

Download or read book Experimental Investigation of Velocity Distributions Downstream of Single Duct Bends written by John R. Weske and published by . This book was released on 1948 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results indicate that cross-sectional shape and aspect ratio are minor factors compared with radius ratio in affecting the velocity pattern. Variation of Reynolds number within the range of the tests had no appreciable effect on the velocity distribution in curved ducts.

Book The Theory of Diffusion in Strained Systems

Download or read book The Theory of Diffusion in Strained Systems written by Louis A. Girifalco and published by . This book was released on 1959 with total page 1082 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A general theory of solid-state diffusion in strained systems is developed on a molecular-kinetic basis. The theory predicts that for simple strains the diffusion coefficient is an exponential function of the lattice parameter and that the rate of change of the diffusion coefficient with strain is linearly related to the interatomic forces. It has also been shown that for plastic flow the diffusion coefficient is a linear function of strain rate. All the conclusions are confirmed by the data available in the literature.

Book Cold Formed Steel Design

Download or read book Cold Formed Steel Design written by Wei-Wen Yu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-09-16 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides the latest AISI North American specifications for cold-formed steel design Hailed by professionals around the world as the definitive text on the design of cold-formed steel, this book provides descriptions of the construction and structural behavior of cold-formed steel members and connections from both theoretical and experimental points of view. Updated to reflect the 2016 AISI North American specification and 2015 North American framing standards, this all-new fifth edition offers readers a better understanding of the analysis and design of the thin-walled, cold-formed steel structures that have been widely used in building construction and other areas in recent years. Cold-Formed Steel Design, 5th Edition has been revised and reorganized to incorporate the Direct Strength Method. It discusses the reasons and justification for the various design provisions of the North American specification and framing design standards. It provides chapter coverage of: the types of steels and their most important mechanical properties; the fundamentals of buckling modes; commonly used terms; the design of flexural members, compression members and closed cylindrical tubes, and of beam–columns using ASD, LRFD, and LSD methods; shear diaphragms and shell roof structures; standard corrugated sheets; and more. Updated to the 2016 North American (AISI S100) design specification and 2015 North American (AISI S240) design standard Offers thorough coverage of ASD, LRFD, LSD, and DSM design methods Integrates DSM in the main body of design provisions Features a new section on Power-Actuated Fastener (PAF) Connections Provides new examples and explanations of design provisions Cold-Formed Steel Design, 5th Edition is not only instructive for students, but can serve as a major source of reference for structural engineers, researchers, architects, and construction managers.

Book Flight Investigation in Climb and at High Speed Or a Two blade and Three blade Propeller

Download or read book Flight Investigation in Climb and at High Speed Or a Two blade and Three blade Propeller written by Jerome B. Hammack and published by . This book was released on 1949 with total page 672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report contains the results obtained with a propeller in a three-blade and two-blade configuration in climb and high-speed flight when mounted on a slender-nose fighter airplane. An extensive series of power loadings were investigated up to an airplane Mach number of 0.7. The results are explained by theory. Recommendations for propeller efficiency improvement are stated.

Book Stresses Around Rectangular Cutouts in Torsion Boxes

Download or read book Stresses Around Rectangular Cutouts in Torsion Boxes written by Paul Kuhn and published by . This book was released on 1953 with total page 632 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method is presented for calculating the stresses produced by rectangular cutouts of any size in torsion boxes. The problem is divided into a "box problem" and a "cover problem." The box problem is a special case of the general method of analyzing torsion boxes without cutouts. In the cover problem, simple shear-lag theory is used to obtain "key" stresses; the final distributions are obtained from these key stresses by means of simple rules or empirical distribution curves. Comparisons with the results from three series of tests in which the dimensions of the cutouts varied over a wide range are shown.

Book Determination of the Elastic Constants of Airplane Tires

Download or read book Determination of the Elastic Constants of Airplane Tires written by and published by . This book was released on 1954 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For determination of the elastic constants of airplane tires which are required for the numerical calculations of the shimmy properties of nose and tail wheels, deformation measurements were carried out on four different tires. For this purpose, the tires were loaded in each case with a normal load and then with a lateral force, a tangential force, and a moment. Moreover, the weight and the mass moment of inertia about a vertical axis were determined for the various tires.

The second chart is given for an open tunnel of 2:1 width-height ratio, a closed tunnel of 2:5 width-height ratio, and a closed tunnel of 10:7 width-height ratio.
