Book Flow Conditioner Location Effects in Orifice Flowmeters Classic Reprint

Download or read book Flow Conditioner Location Effects in Orifice Flowmeters Classic Reprint written by Jennifer L. Scott and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-19 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Flow Conditioner Location Effects in Orifice Flowmeters Tests sponsored by Gas Research Institute were conducted with orifice flowmeters of two nominal sizes: 104 mm (4 in) and 52 mm (2 in). For the 104 mm orifice meter we compared discharge coefficients measured in two common piping configurations used by laboratories to establish baseline flow conditions. The discharge coefficients are similar for beta ratios of and but not for the beta ratio plate. For other tests with this orifice meter, a 90° elbow or a reducer was located upstream of the orifice plate and flow conditioner. Two beta ratios were tested in the 52 mm orifice meter in baseline configuration and with an elbow at 170 and a flow conditioner at 120. For many of the tests, differential pressures were measured at.more than one flange tap location. Placing the flow conditioner too close to the orifice plate in either meter yields discharge coefficients below baseline values The location of the flow conditioner with respect to the orifice plate appears to influence meter performance more significantly than the type or location of flow' disturbance upstream of it; With larger beta ratio plates, the flange tap location affected the value of the discharge coefficients. Book Orifice Meter Performance Downstream of a Tube Bundle Flow Conditioner Elbows and a Tee Classic Reprint

Download or read book Orifice Meter Performance Downstream of a Tube Bundle Flow Conditioner Elbows and a Tee Classic Reprint written by Michael A. Lewis and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-09-14 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Orifice Meter Performance Downstream of a Tube Bundle Flow Conditioner, Elbows, and a Tee The flow conditioner used for the tests was a 19-tube, circular pattern, in-line unit, as illustrated in figure 2. This type of flow conditioner is held in the pipe with a set screw positioned at the center of the tube bundle. The set screw was located at the top of the horizontal meter tube. The flange pressure taps were located at the 9 o'clock position looking in the direction of flow. The first objective of the test program was to determine the flow conditioner location where the calculated orifice discharge coefficient was equivalent to the discharge coefficient at the baseline. Four flow conditioner locations upstream of the orifice plate were selected. The closest was at seven pipe diameters because this is the minimum distance allowed[1] when using a beta ratio of The other locations were approximately 11, 17, and 27 pipe diameters. Data were taken using the meter with 46 pipe diameters of straight upstream pipe (the configuration shown in figure la) and with four orifice plates with beta ratios of and with the flow conditioner at 27 pipe diameters and the beta ratios of and a second test configuration used an oversized (6-inch) Sprenkle flow conditioner at 46 pipe diameters upstream of the orifice plate (the configuration shown in figure 1b). This book was released on 2017-10-28 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Discharge Coefficients of Square-Edged Orifices for Measuring the Flow of Air In regard to any one orifice, the object of the experiments is to determine the relation between the rate of discharge of air through the orifice, on the one hand, and the temperature and static pressure of the air and the pressure drop or differential across the orifice, on the other. If this relation has been determined and expressed in simple form, the rate of discharge may thereafter be found, by computation or graphically, from observations of the temperature. This book was released on 2017-10-21 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from An Investigation of the Flow of Water Through Submerged Orifices and Pipes: Thesis Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Civil Engineer in the Graduate School of the University of Illinois, 1909 It was the purpose of the series of experiments reported herein to determine the coefficients of discharge for sub - merged orifices and pipes of various sizes and kinds under different heads. Special attention was given to heads lower than ft. The orifices were of three kinds, five being circular, eight rectangular, and one triangular. Two short pipes were used. One was the standard short tube used in laboratory work. The other was longer and extended into both the ehtrance and discharge parts of the apparatus. This second pipe was threaded on the outside at each end so that month - pieces of varying angles and lengths could be attached and their effect on the discharge studied. An attempt was made to discover the effect on the flow caused by a variation in the depth of water over the orifice or pipe. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Measurement of Gas and Liquids by Orifice Meter The first edition of Measurement of Gas by Orifice Meter published in 1918 was the first instance that we know of where the complete data pertaining to the orifice meter and orifice measurement was presented in book form, and it is gratifying to both the author and the publisher to know that the book was received with such favor as to have exhausted the edition in a comparatively short time.
