Book Feedstock Recycling and Pyrolysis of Waste Plastics

Download or read book Feedstock Recycling and Pyrolysis of Waste Plastics written by John Scheirs and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-05-12 with total page 824 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pyrolysis is a recycling technique converting plastic waste into fuels, monomers, or other valuable materials by thermal and catalytic cracking processes. It allows the treatment of mixed, unwashed plastic wastes. For many years research has been carried out on thermally converting waste plastics into useful hydrocarbons liquids such as crude oil and diesel fuel. Recently the technology has matured to the point where commercial plants are now available. Pyrolysis recycling of mixed waste plastics into generator and transportation fuels is seen as the answer for recovering value from unwashed, mixed plastics and achieving their desired diversion from landfill. This book provides an overview of the science and technology of pyrolysis of waste plastics. It describes the types of plastics that are suitable for pyrolysis recycling, the mechanism of pyrolytic degradation of various plastics, characterization of the pyrolysis products and details of commercially mature pyrolysis technologies. This book also covers co-pyrolysis technology, including: waste plastic/waste oil, waste plastics/coal, and waste plastics/rubber.

Book Handbook of Recycling

Download or read book Handbook of Recycling written by Ernst Worrell and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2014-04-28 with total page 595 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the International Solid Waste Association's 2014 Publication Award, Handbook of Recycling is an authoritative review of the current state-of-the-art of recycling, reuse and reclamation processes commonly implemented today and how they interact with one another. The book addresses several material flows, including iron, steel, aluminum and other metals, pulp and paper, plastics, glass, construction materials, industrial by-products, and more. It also details various recycling technologies as well as recovery and collection techniques. To completely round out the picture of recycling, the book considers policy and economic implications, including the impact of recycling on energy use, sustainable development, and the environment. With contemporary recycling literature scattered across disparate, unconnected articles, this book is a crucial aid to students and researchers in a range of disciplines, from materials and environmental science to public policy studies. Portrays recent and emerging technologies in metal recycling, by-product utilization and management of post-consumer waste Uses life cycle analysis to show how to reclaim valuable resources from mineral and metallurgical wastes Uses examples from current professional and industrial practice, with policy and economic implications

Book Germany Garbage and the Green Dot

Download or read book Germany Garbage and the Green Dot written by Bette K. Fishbein and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 1996-07 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report offers a revolutionary approach taken by Germany to promote both recycling & source reduction. German legislation is stimulating industry efforts to reduce packaging & product waste by requiring that the bus. producing packages & products be financially responsible for taking back their used materials & recycling, reusing or disposing of them. This report describes what Germans have done in solid waste policies, the difficulties they are confronting & the impact on wastes to date. Discusses environmental problems that the US & other industrialized countries face, identifies practical solutions: programs & policies that work to conserve our valuable air, land, water & natural resources & enable us to live & do business less wastefully.
