Book Carburizing

Download or read book Carburizing written by Geoffrey Parrish and published by ASM International. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation Based on his training in metallurgy and experience in a large British gear manufacturing company, Parrish reviews the microstructural features of metal products that have been carbon case-hardened, and the influence of those features on the more important material properties. He is not concerned with the carbonizing process at all. He primarily addresses students of engineering and ferrous metallurgy, but also stress and design engineers who might want to understand more fully the specifications of the materials they are considering for their designs. He wrote the eight articles to summarize the field's literature of the early 1970s for his own convenience, but at invitation, published them as a series in the Heat Treatment of Metals during 1967-77, and collected them for a first edition of the volume in 1980. Book Metallography of Steels Interpretation of Structure and the Effects of Processing

Download or read book Metallography of Steels Interpretation of Structure and the Effects of Processing written by Hubertus Colpaert and published by ASM International. This book was released on 2018-08-01 with total page 719 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Updated and translated by André Luiz V. da Costa e Silva This book is a combination of a metallographic atlas for steels and cast irons and an introductory textbook covering the fundamentals of phase transformations and heat treatment of these materials. Every important stage of processing, from casting to cold working is clearly discussed and copiously illustrated with metallographs that show the obtained structures, both desired and those achieved when deviations occur. First published in 1951 by Professor Hubertus Colpaert from the Institute for Technological Research (IPT) of São Paulo, Brazil, this book became one of the most important Brazilian references for professionals interested in the processing, treatment, and application of steels and cast irons. In the Fourth Edition and English translation, updated and translated by Professor André Luiz V. da Costa e Silva, the concept of the of the original edition was preserved while the important developments of recent decades, both in metallographic characterization and in steel and iron products, as well as progress in the understanding of the transformations that made the extraordinary developments of these alloys possible, were added. Most metallographs are of actual industrial materials and a large number originate from industry leaders or laboratories at the forefront of steel and iron development. As steel continues to be the most widely used metallic material in the world, Metallography of Steels continues to be an essential reference for students, metallographers, and engineers interested in understanding processing-properties-structure relationships of the material. The balance between theoretical and applied information makes this book a valuable companion for even experienced steel practitioners.

Book Tool Steel Pacification and Heat Treatment of Wear Resistance Steel and D3 Steel

Download or read book Tool Steel Pacification and Heat Treatment of Wear Resistance Steel and D3 Steel written by MFAROUK -Mohamed Farouk Ahmed and published by MFAROUK - Mohamed Farouk Ahmed. This book was released on 2018-07-15 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is study on tool steel pacification and heat-treatment for all type of wear resistance steel and specially our D3 steel. Supported with value review. This research “theoretical and experimental” in Effect of Heat-treatment “hardening temperature, tempering temperature, and cooling rate“ in the Mechanical property “Hardness”, and Microstructure transformation on Tool Steel, all type of wear resistance steel, and specially D3 steel. The research study heat-treatment for two pieces of D3 die steel "Working at cone pulleys for nail manufacture" to modify there mechanical properties. The classification its type, properties and set on condition effect on it was discussed. Two set of experiments were done one to determine the effect of austenitization temperature and tempering temperature on the mechanical properties "hardness" and another "the basic one" to discuses improving its mechanical properties from view of microstructure transformations "type, amount, and properties" for each heat-treatment stage. This study was APPROVED as my BS graduate project from Metallurgy Engineering Collage, Cairo University 2001, and published after addition in experimental review at 2018.

This book was released on 2017-10-24 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Effect of Heat Treatment on the Mechanical Properties of 1 Per Cent Carbon Steel From the preceding results it appears that slow cooling from temperatures just above Ac, l gives maximum ductility and low strength. With rise in annealing temperature the ductility de creases rapidly, and elongation and reduction of area in general remain at low values, while the strength reaches a maximum 1n the range about 900°c (1652° F).
