Download or read book Educated Empath Adult Coloring Book written by Marcia Cuff and published by . This book was released on 2021-06-27 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term "Empath" comes from the word "empathy," which is basically one''s ability to feel and see things outside of your own perspective. Empaths are those who are highly sensitive, and who have the ability to sense what other people around them are feeling. They are the nurturers, the healers, the sensitive ones, the givers, the lovers, the caregivers, the listeners, the FEELERS. Are you a highly sensitive or highly intuitive individual? Do you need an outlet to help you relax and recharge? Are you currently or have you recently parted from an emotionally abusive relationship? Know what a narcissist is, and have you had an experience with one? Then this colouring book with its positive and empowering message is for you. This colouring book has 26 relaxing patterns with motivational words for Empaths, highly sensitive people, and survivors of narcissistic abuse. About the educated empath behind this coloring book: I am a 43 year old registered nurse who hails from New Jersey. I am a mother of two children of the human (though sometimes that''s questionable too), two children of the doggy kind, and one child of the feline kind. Let me start out by saying this: I am nobody special. September 6, 2020 was a day of absolute awakening for me. Don''t get me wrong, this was many years in the making, as since my divorce from my narcissistic ex, I have been studying narcissism and it''s effects on empaths like me. But on this day in particular, it was like something in me finally looked at my ex and realized exactly what kind of monster I had been dealing with all of these years. You know what finally snapped me into my current thought pattern: seeing him treating his new supply the same way he treated me for many years. Wow, eye opening. Now DONT get me wrong, because this woman was the final catalyst for our divorce, I despise her and the ground she walks on. However, in that moment), on his front lawn, at my sons birthday party, tears strewn down her face, I felt SORRY for her. Not because I care about her feelings (I am human after all, and I do think she''s currently living her karma for dealing with a married man, but I digress), but because I myself used to be her. The many times he embarrassed me in front of my and his families, the many times he didn''t come to my rescue when he should have, the many times he knowingly caused me pain and smirked while I wept, I realized she was ME. And for that, I felt sorry for her. I wanted to actually hug her and tell her it will be okay, but let''s not push it. I''m an eMpath but I still got my boundaries after all. I started out this excerpt by saying "I''m nobody special," but you know what, that couldn''t be farther from the truth. I AM somebody special. I am a survivor of narcissistic abuse. I survived said abuse by educating myself on narcissists, empaths, and every other term in between, and I came out on top! I''ve found a freedom that I cannot even explain, and I want you and any other person who is experiencing, or has experienced this same type of abuse to know that things WILL get better. Education is liberating. My motto: I once was lost, but now I''m EDUCATED. TRIGGER WARNING: There''s a curse word or two in this book...but eMpaths aren''t judgemental, and sometimes we curse. ☺️

Book What We Believe

Download or read book What We Believe written by Laleña Garcia and published by Lee & Low Books. This book was released on 2020-10-27 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This powerful activity book will engage hands, hearts, and minds as it introduces children to the guiding principles of the Black Lives Matter movement. When the Black Lives Matter movement began in 2013, the three founders--Alicia Garza, Patrisse Khan-Cullors, and Opal Tometi--anchored its work in a list of guiding principles, developed through conversation with other activists. These principles commit the movement to empathy, loving engagement, and just action among its participants; affirm the importance of Black women, families, elders, and LGBTQ folk; and celebrate the strength and diversity of Black people in their communities and around the globe. Now young people can explore these powerful principles in What We Believe: A Black Lives Matter Principles Activity Book. Created by two teachers with more than thirty-five years of educational experience between them, the book presents the guiding principles in down-to-earth, child-friendly language, with each principle accompanied by writing prompts, space for children or adults to create their own reflections, and a coloring page. Supporting materials guide adults in sharing the principles with children and encourage kids to dream big and take action within their communities. An essential resource for anyone discussing racial equity with young people, What We Believe offers a beautiful and inspiring lens on the most important social justice movement of our time. Lee & Low Books will donate a portion of its proceeds from the book to the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, Inc.

Book What Readers Do

Download or read book What Readers Do written by Beth Driscoll and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2024-02-21 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shining a spotlight on everyday readers of the 21st century, Beth Driscoll explores how contemporary readers of Anglophone fiction interact with the book industry, digital environments, and each other. We live in an era when book clubs, bibliomemoirs, Bookstagram and BookTok are as valuable to some readers as solitary reading moments. The product of nearly two decades of qualitative research into readers and reading culture, What Readers Do examines reading through three dimensions - aesthetic conduct, moral conduct, and self-care – to show how readers intertwine private and social behaviors, and both reinforce and oppose the structures of capitalism. Analyzing reading as a post-digital practice that is a synthesis of both print and digital modes and on- and offline behaviors, Driscoll presents a methodology for studying readers that connects book history, literary studies, sociology, and actor-network theory. Arguing for the vitality, agency, and creativity of readers, this book sheds light on how we read now - and on how much more readers do than just read.

When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University. Only then would she wonder if she’d traveled too far, if there was still a way home. “Beautiful and propulsive . . . Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From the author of Uprooted and Spinning Silver comes the first book of the Scholomance trilogy, the story of an unwilling dark sorceress who is destined to rewrite the rules of magic. FINALIST FOR THE LODESTAR AWARD • “The dark school of magic I’ve been waiting for.”—Katherine Arden, author of the Winternight Trilogy I decided that Orion Lake needed to die after the second time he saved my life. Everyone loves Orion Lake. Everyone else, that is. Far as I’m concerned, he can keep his flashy combat magic to himself. I’m not joining his pack of adoring fans. I don’t need help surviving the Scholomance, even if they do. Forget the hordes of monsters and cursed artifacts, I’m probably the most dangerous thing in the place. Just give me a chance and I’ll level mountains and kill untold millions, make myself the dark queen of the world. At least, that’s what the world expects. Most of the other students in here would be delighted if Orion killed me like one more evil thing that’s crawled out of the drains. Sometimes I think they want me to turn into the evil witch they assume I am. The school certainly does. But the Scholomance isn’t getting what it wants from me. And neither is Orion Lake. I may not be anyone’s idea of the shining hero, but I’m going to make it out of this place alive, and I’m not going to slaughter thousands to do it, either. Although I’m giving serious consideration to just one. With flawless mastery, Naomi Novik creates a school bursting with magic like you’ve never seen before, and a heroine for the ages—a character so sharply realized and so richly nuanced that she will live on in hearts and minds for generations to come. The magic of the Scholomance trilogy continues in The Last Graduate “The can’t-miss fantasy of fall 2020, a brutal coming-of-power story steeped in the aesthetics of dark academia. . . . A Deadly Education will cement Naomi Novik’s place as one of the greatest and most versatile fantasy writers of our time.”—BookPage (starred review) “A must-read . . . Novik puts a refreshingly dark, adult spin on the magical boarding school. . . . Readers will delight in the push-and-pull of El and Orion’s relationship, the fantastically detailed world, the clever magic system, and the matter-of-fact diversity of the student body.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)

It is, in other words, the key to reshaping our very lives.”—Oprah Winfrey This book is going to change the way you see your life. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?” Here, Winfrey shares stories from her own past, understanding through experience the vulnerability that comes from facing trauma and adversity at a young age.
