Book Multimedia and Groupware for Editing

Download or read book Multimedia and Groupware for Editing written by Adelino Santos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multimedia techniques enable the production of non-traditional documents containing enourmous amounts of information. The production of such documents by a group, as opposed to an individual, is the main subject of this book. A group needs to communicate, and multimedia technology can be used to enhance group communication. How multimedia documentation and communication and groups of authors fit together are the main questions tackled. The book describes the construction of a conceptual framework and the prototype system, CoMEdiA, as well as how the system was used to conduct a group effectiveness study involving two applications: cooperative software engineering and data production. Thus the work relates to multimedia communication, cooperative editing, and group support and effectiveness.

Book Vertical Readings in Dante s Comedy

Download or read book Vertical Readings in Dante s Comedy written by George Corbett and published by Open Book Publishers. This book was released on 2016-12-12 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection – to be issued in three volumes – offers an unprecedented repertoire of vertical readings for the whole poem. As the first volume exemplifies, vertical reading not only articulates unexamined connections between the three canticles but also unlocks engaging new ways to enter into core concerns of the poem. The three volumes thereby provide an indispensable resource for scholars, students and enthusiasts of Dante. The volume has its origin in a series of thirty-three public lectures held in Trinity College, the University of Cambridge (2012-2016) which can be accessed at the Cambridge Vertical Readings in Dante’s Comedy website.

Book The Comedia in English

Download or read book The Comedia in English written by Susan Paun De García and published by Tamesis Books. This book was released on 2008 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The bringing of Spanish seventeenth-century verse plays to the contemporary English-speaking stage involves a number of fundamental questions. Are verse translations preferable to prose, and if so, what kind of verse? To what degree should translations aim to be 'faithful'? Which kinds of plays 'work', and which do not? Which values and customs of the past present no difficulties for contemporary audiences, and which need to be decoded in performance?Which kinds of staging are suitable, and which are not? To what degree, if any, should one aim for 'authenticity' in staging? In this volume, a group of translators, directors, and scholars explores these and related questions."--Jacket

Book Lope de Vega Fuente Ovejuna

Download or read book Lope de Vega Fuente Ovejuna written by and published by Hispanic Classics. This book was released on 1989-05 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fuente Ovejuna (C.1613) is the most famous and frequently performed play by the creator of Spanish theatre, Lope de Vega (1562-1635). Astonishingly for its period, it celebrates the murder in 1476 of a nobleman, the Grand Commander of the Military Order of Calatrava, by the peasants he had oppressed, and their subsequent solidarity under torture. Fuente Ovejuna, however, is less a history lesson or political tract than an optimistic moral fable.

Book Television Ethnicity and Cultural Change

Download or read book Television Ethnicity and Cultural Change written by Marie Gillespie and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2002-01-04 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For 'ethnic minorities' in Britain, broadcast TV provides powerful representations of national and 'western' culture. In Southall - which has the largest population of 'South Asians' outside the Indian sub-continent - the VCR furnishes Hindi films, 'sacred soaps' such as the Mahabharata, and family videos of rites of passage, as well as mainstream American films. Television, Ethnicity and Cultural Change examines how TV and video are being used to recreate cultural traditions within the 'South Asian' diaspora, and how they are also catalysing cultural change in this local community. Marie Gillespie explores how young people negotiate between the parental and peer, local and global, national and international contexts and culturess which traverse their lives. Articulating their own preoccupations with television narratives, they both reaffirm and challenge parental traditions, formulating their own aspirations towards cultural change. Marie Gillespie's in-depth study offers an invaluable survey of how cultures are shaped and changed through people's recreative reception of the media.

Book Approaches to Teaching Dante s Divine Comedy

Download or read book Approaches to Teaching Dante s Divine Comedy written by Christopher Kleinhenz and published by Modern Language Association. This book was released on 2020-02-01 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dante's Divine Comedy can compel and shock readers: it combines intense emotion and psychological insight with medieval theology and philosophy. This volume will help instructors lead their students through the many dimensions--historical, literary, religious, and ethical--that make the work so rewarding and enduringly relevant yet so difficult. Part 1, "Materials," gives instructors an overview of the important scholarship on the Divine Comedy. The essays of part 2, "Approaches," describe ways to teach the work in the light of its contemporary culture and ours. Various teaching situations (a first-year seminar, a creative writing class, high school, a prison) are considered, and the many available translations are discussed.
