Book Compliance with European Consumer Law

Download or read book Compliance with European Consumer Law written by Felix Pflücke and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2024-08-22 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: European Consumer Law has adapted and evolved in response to the rapid growth of e-commerce in the last two decades. Compliance with European Consumer Law: The Case of E-Commerce examines the evolving legal framework at the EU and national levels - from mandatory disclosures to unfair contract terms - and analyses the extent to which scientifically grounded evidence or theories underpin these legislative choices. At the heart of the book lies an original, data-driven inquiry assessing compliance among e-commerce traders with consumer protection rules. The empirical analysis investigates whether 300 traders from four jurisdictions (France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom) comply with their legal duties and identifies reasons for non-compliance. It translates the evidence of previously undiscovered non-compliance patterns into targeted and actionable policy recommendations, presenting a significant new interpretation of the regulatory landscape. Compliance with European Consumer Law offers a unique, analytical perspective and contributes to a deeper understanding of e-commerce regulation. Innovative and engaging, this book advocates for a more evidence-driven approach within European Consumer Law aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of the rules and fostering trader compliance.

Book Accessory Liability

    Book Details:
  • Author : Paul S Davies
  • Publisher : Bloomsbury Publishing
  • Release : 2015-02-26
  • ISBN : 1849469571
  • Pages : 549 pages

Download or read book Accessory Liability written by Paul S Davies and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2015-02-26 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Accessory liability in the private law is of great importance. Claimants often bring claims against third parties who participate in wrongs. For example, the 'direct wrongdoer' may be insolvent, so a claimant might prefer a remedy against an accessory in order to obtain satisfactory redress. However, the law in this area has not received the attention it deserves. The criminal law recognises that any person who 'aids, abets, counsels or procures' any offence can be punished as an accessory, but the private law is more fragmented. One reason for this is a tendency to compartmentalise the law of obligations into discrete subjects, such as contract, trusts, tort and intellectual property. This book suggests that by looking across such boundaries in the private law, the nature and principles of accessory liability can be better understood and doctrinal confusion regarding the elements of liability, defences and remedies resolved. Winner of the Joint Second SLS Peter Birks Prize for Outstanding Legal Scholarship 2015.

Book Disruptive Technology Legal Innovation and the Future of Real Estate

This book was released on 2020-09-30 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses challenges that new technologies and the big data revolution pose to existing regulatory and legal frameworks. The book brings together an interdisciplinary collection of chapters that revolve around the potential influence of disruptive technologies on existing legal norms and the future development of real estate markets. The book is divided into five parts. Part I presents a survey of the current available research on blockchain and real estate. Part II provides a background on property law for the volume, grounding it in fundamental theory. Part III discusses the changing landscapes of property rights while Part IV debates the potential effects of blockchain on land registration. Finally the book concludes with Part V, which is devoted to new technological applications relevant to real estate. Providing an interdisciplinary perspective on emerging technologies that have the potential to disrupt the real estate industry and the regulation of it, this book will appeal to a broad audience, consisting of scholars, policy-makers, practitioners, and students, interested in real estate, law, economics, blockchain, and technology policy.
