Book Ethanol Co Product Use in U S Cattle Feeding

Download or read book Ethanol Co Product Use in U S Cattle Feeding written by Kenneth H. Mathews and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2010 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The byproducts of making ethanol, sweeteners, syrups, and oils were considered less valuable than the primary products. But the increased livestock-feed market for such byproducts has switched that perception to one of the ethanol industry making grain-based ¿co-products (CP)¿ that have market value separate from the primary products. CP such as dried distiller¿s grains, corn gluten feed, corn gluten meal, corn oil, and brewer¿s grains have become economically viable components, along with traditional ingred., in feed rations. The CP have limitations, such as variable moisture content, product avail., nutrient excesses or deficiencies, and nutrient variability. These limitations affect how they must be handled and stored and how much they cost. Illus.

Book excerpt: The edited volume presents the progress of first and second generation biofuel production technology in selected countries. Possibility of producing alternative fuels containing biocomponents and selected research methods of biofuels exploitation characteristics (also aviation fuels) was characterized. The book shows also some aspects of the environmental impact of the production and biofuels using, and describes perspectives of biofuel production technology development. It provides the review of biorefinery processes with a particular focus on pretreatment methods of selected primary and secondary raw materials. The discussion includes also a possibility of sustainable development of presented advanced biorefinery processes.

Book Market Issues and Prospects for U S Distillers Grains Supply Use and Price Relationships

Download or read book Market Issues and Prospects for U S Distillers Grains Supply Use and Price Relationships written by Linwood A. Hoffman and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2011-04 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growth in corn dry-mill ethanol production has surged in the past several years, simultaneously creating a co-product distillers' grains (DDGS). Many in the U.S. feed industry were concerned about the size of this new feed source and whether it could be used entirely by the feed industry, but they also worried about the price discovery process for the product. Provides a transparent methodology to estimate U.S. supply and consumption of DDGS. Potential domestic and export use of U.S. DDGS exceeds current production and is likely to exceed future production as ethanol production continues to grow. Identifies the DDGS price discovery process along with the price relationships of distillers' grains, corn, and soybean meal. Illus. A print on demand report.

Book Plant Biotechnology for Sustainable Production of Energy and Co products

Download or read book Plant Biotechnology for Sustainable Production of Energy and Co products written by Peter N. Mascia and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-09-15 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collection of chapters concerning the use of biomass for the sustainable production of energy and chemicals–an important goal that will help decrease the production of greenhouse gases to help mitigate global warming, provide energy security in the face of dwindling petroleum reserves, improve balance of payment problems and spur local economic development. Clearly there are ways to save energy that need to be encouraged more. These include more use of energy sources such as, among others, manure in anaerobic digesters, waste wood in forests as fuel or feedstock for cellulosic ethanol, and conservation reserve program (CRP) land crops that are presently unused in the US. The use of biofuels is not new; Rudolf Diesel used peanut oil as fuel in the ?rst engines he developed (Chap. 8), and ethanol was used in the early 1900s in the US as automobile fuel [Songstad et al. (2009) Historical perspective of biofuels: learning from the past to rediscover the future. In Vitro Cell Dev Biol Plant 45:189–192). Brazil now produces enough sugar cane ethanol to make up about 50% of its transportation fuel needs (Chap. 4). The next big thing will be cellulosic ethanol. At present, there is also the use of Miscanthus x giganteous as fuel for power plants in the UK (Chap. 2), bagasse (sugar cane waste) to power sugar cane mills (Chap. 4), and waste wood and sawdust to power sawmills (Chap. 7).

Book China Is Using More Corn for Industrial Products

Download or read book China Is Using More Corn for Industrial Products written by H. Frederick Gale and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2010-08 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: China¿s corn imports are minimal, even though it is using a growing proportion of its corn to produce starch, ethanol, and other industrial products. The corn-processing industry¿s growth was encouraged by Chinese government policy, but the industry now has excess capacity. Many of the corn-based industrial products are exported. China¿s price support for corn during 2008/09 increased raw material costs for the industry and slowed its growth. Charts and tables.

Book Animal production and animal science worldwide

Download or read book Animal production and animal science worldwide written by A. Rosati and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2023-08-28 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This World Association for Animal Production (WAAP) Book of the Year series, now in its fourth volume, grows each year in its popularity. The authors are selected for their expertise in a specific field of the animal science. It is intended to constantly update animal scientists, industry representatives, animal breeders and extension service personnel with all the aspects considered relevant in each specific field of animal science. The book offers an updated and complete picture of the animal industry and of livestock science worldwide. We maintain the book's successful four section structure for easy access to the information. The first section of the book deals with livestock industry and possible application of research developments in the various continents. The following section reports updates about development of research in the various disciplines in the entire animal science field. The third section contains interesting articles on 'free subjects', of broad interest. We were told by readers of the previous volumes that this is the most popular section for the variety of actual and interesting topics for readers. The final section shows, like every year, detailed statistics of extraordinary importance in the animal industry. This book is generally recognized as one of the very few practical resources of comprehensive statistical information related to animal industry and it is considered by most important libraries to be a key instrument to offer their readers high-quality, updated relevant information on global animal science developments.
