Download or read book Servosystem Design of a High response Slotted plate Overboard Bypass Valve for a Supersonic Inlet written by George H. Neiner and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The servosystem design of a high-response airflow bypass valving system for supersonic mixed-compression inlets or other industrial or aerospace pneumatic systems is described. The valve utilizes a multislotted plate to achieve flow area change with minimum stroke and mass of moving parts. The servosystem utilizes a hydraulic piston-in-cylinder actuator close-coupled to a two-stage electrohydraulic servovalve. Using electronic compensation the small-amplitude response of the system, modulating 14 percent of its full flow area, is flat within 0 to -3 dB to 110 Hz. (161 cm [to the second power] ). A mathematical model of the system is presented and analytical responses are compared with experimental data.
Download or read book A Supersonic Inlet engine Control Using Engine Speed as a Primary Variable for Controlling Normal Shock Position written by Francis J. Paulovich and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A cross-coupled inlet-engine control system concept is presented for a supersonic propulsion system consisting of a mixed- compression inlet and a turbojet engine. The control system employs manipulation of both bypass door flow area and engine speed to stabilize normal shock position in the inlet. Specifically, the case of slow-acting bypass doors used as a reset control where engine speed is the primary means of shock position control is described. Experimental results are presented showing performance of the control system with a NASA-designed inlet and a turbojet engine operating at Mach 2.5 in the Lewis 10- by 10-Foot Supersonic Wind Tunnel.

Download or read book Experimental Dynamic Response of a Two dimensional Mach 2 7 Mixed compression Inlet written by Robert J. Baumbick and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A test program was conducted on a two-dimensional supersonic inlet. Internal disturbances in diffuser exit mass flow were produced by oscillating overboard bypass doors. Open-loop dynamic responses of shock position, throat exit and diffuser exit static pressures are presented. The steady-state and dynamic coupling between ducts were also obtained. The experimental results from the two-dimensional inlet are compared to results from a similar size axisymmetric inlet and also to a transfer function synthesis program.

Download or read book Generalized Simulation Technique for Turbojet Engine System Analysis written by Kurt Seldner and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A nonlinear analog simulation of a turbojet engine was developed. The purpose of the study was to establish simulation techniques applicable to propulsion system dynamics and controls research. A schematic model was derived from a physical description of a J85-13 turbojet engine. Basic conservation equations were applied to each component along with their individual performance characteristics to derive a mathematical representation. The simulation was mechanized on an analog computer. The simulation was verified in both steady-state and dynamic modes by comparing analytical results with experimental data obtained from tests performed at the Lewis Research Center with a J85-13 engine. In addition, comparison was also made with performance data obtained from the engine manufacturer. The comparisons established the validity of the simulation technique.
