Children love it because it's a fabulous fairy story with beautiful illustrations, and parents love it because it enables children to kick their dummy habit once and for all. The book follows the story of a little girl called Bea, who refuses to give up her dummy. Then one night her mother persuades her to leave all her dummies outside her room for the 'Dummy Fairy' to take - (in exchange for a special gift). Bea gets to meet the fairy, who shows her that it IS possible to give up dummies without shedding a single tear. The book uses a fun and imaginative story to teach children why it makes sense to give up dummies, and it also offers up some fun ideas to stop them missing them once they've gone. After reading, parents can simply follow the book at home, and arrange an exciting visit from the Dummy Fairy, to the delight of their child. Bea Gives Up Her Dummy provides an easy, fun way for parents to say goodbye to dummies for good.

Book The Day of the Week and the Month of the Year Effects

Download or read book The Day of the Week and the Month of the Year Effects written by Eleftherios Giovanis and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2010-03 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2008 in the subject Computer Science - Commercial Information Technology, grade: 90.0%, language: English, abstract: In this paper we examine the calendar anomalies in the stock market index of Athens. Specifically we examine the day of the week and the month of the year effects, where we expect negative or lower returns on Monday and the highest average returns on Friday for the day of the week effect and the higher average returns in January, concerning the January effect. For the period we examine we found insignificant returns on Monday, but significant positive and higher average returns on Friday. Also our results are consistent with the literature for the month of the year effect, where we find the highest average returns in January. Furthermore we estimate with ordinary least squares (OLS) and symmetric and asymmetric Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) rolling regressions and we conclude that the week day returns are not constant through the time period we examine but are changed. Specifically, while in the first half-period of the rolling regression there are negative returns on Mondays so we observe the day of the week effecting, in the last half-period of the rolling regression Friday presents the highest returns, but the lowest returns are reported on Tuesday and not on Monday, indicating a change shift in the pattern of the day of the week effect. Full programming routines of rolling regressions in EVIEWS and MATLAB software are described.

Book Neuroeconomic and Behavioral Aspects of Decision Making

Download or read book Neuroeconomic and Behavioral Aspects of Decision Making written by Kesra Nermend and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-10-06 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings volume presents the latest scientific research and trends in experimental economics, with particular focus on neuroeconomics. Derived from the 2016 Computational Methods in Experimental Economics (CMEE) conference held in Szczecin, Poland, this book features research and analysis of novel computational methods in neuroeconomics. Neuroeconomics is an interdisciplinary field that combines neuroscience, psychology and economics to build a comprehensive theory of decision making. At its core, neuroeconomics analyzes the decision-making process not only in terms of external conditions or psychological aspects, but also from the neuronal point of view by examining the cerebral conditions of decision making. The application of IT enhances the possibilities of conducting such analyses. Such studies are now performed by software that provides interaction among all the participants and possibilities to register their reactions more accurately. This book examines some of these applications and methods. Featuring contributions on both theory and application, this book is of interest to researchers, students, academics and professionals interested in experimental economics, neuroeconomics and behavioral economics.

Book Price Regulation and Risk

Download or read book Price Regulation and Risk written by Michael Hierzenberger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-08-03 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Natural monopolies are not subject to the market-based principle of competition. Consequently, it is necessary to control companies in such monopoly positions with regard to their pricing. In the future, it will become more and more important to consider a possible change in the regulation regime when the future-oriented costs of equity - both in terms of price regulation and for conducting capital market-oriented business valuations - are to be determined. Based on the principal-agent problem, the book explains this topic. The effect of a change in the regulation regime is presented in the form of two studies: an international secondary analysis of the effects on cost of equity based on event studies of the Anglo-Saxon area and a primary analysis based on the Austrian regulation policy for electricity and gas supply systems. The two studies arrive at similar results: The change from a rate-of-return regulation to incentive regulation systems leads to a significant increase in systematic risk.
