Book Ultimate Strength Analysis of Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete Sections Subjected to Axial Load and Biaxial Bending

Download or read book Ultimate Strength Analysis of Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete Sections Subjected to Axial Load and Biaxial Bending written by Alejandro Litago Viñerta and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anglès: Nowadays the European society is living a revolutionary change in their high education system with the coming into effect of the European space for higher education. This new space for higher education was set out in the Bologna declaration. The aim of this declaration is to structure the higher education in a convergent way in 47 countries. In Spain, the application of the Bologna declaration defines a completely opposite philosophy in higher education. The way the lecturers used to organize their degrees in Spain was based in a master class were the interaction between the teacher and their students was almost zero. The evaluation method was based in a final examination were the student had to answer the final exam and its final mark was hundred per cent based on its exam's result. With the coming into effect of the European space for higher education, everybody's role has changed. Now, the lecturers are expected not to dazzle their students with a master class but to direct their students' efforts toward the topics they have not properly understood, mentoring their day by day work. The students are expected to work an amount of hours per week by themselves in different tasks and going into the topics. This new paradigm in the higher education applied to the schools of civil engineering and more specifically to the reinforced concrete area demands new educational tools to make easier for the students to work out the calculations. The key point of these tools is to let the students be focused in the different theoretical parts of the problem and at the same time to let them work out many different cases without having to repeat every time some calculations which are already assumed as known from previous courses. Therefore, they can see how the different parameters (Reinforced area, concrete cross section, etc.) change the final result by themselves, without their lecturers' help. These tools must be focused on improving the learning performance in the important and most difficult topics. This dissertation's target is to develop one of these tools to work out the reinforced and prestressed concrete interaction diagram for section subjected to axial load and biaxial bending moment, helping the students with a useful tool to work out one of the most common problems in reinforced beams.

Book Strength Design for Reinforced concrete Hydraulic Structures

Download or read book Strength Design for Reinforced concrete Hydraulic Structures written by American Society of Civil Engineers and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strength Design for Reinforced-Concrete Hydraulic Structures is written in sufficient detail to not only provide the designer with design procedures, but also to present examples of their application. A review of general detailing requirements, as well as strength and serviceability requirements, create a strong understanding of the strength-design method. Latter chapters feature examples that demonstrate load-factor application, the design of members subjected to combined flexural and axial loads, the design of members subjected to biaxial bending, and the design for shear strength, including provisions for both special straight and curved members.

Book Advances in Structural Vibration

Download or read book Advances in Structural Vibration written by Subashisa Dutta and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-11 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book consists of selected and peer-reviewed papers presented at the 13th International Conference on Vibration Problems (ICOVP 2017). The topics covered in this book include different structural vibration problems such as dynamics and stability under normal and seismic loading, and wave propagation. The book also discusses different materials such as composite, piezoelectric, and functionally graded materials for improving the stiffness and damping properties of structures. The contents of this book can be useful for beginners, researchers and professionals interested in structural vibration and other allied fields.

Book Design of Reinforced Concrete Sections Under Bending and Axial Forces

Download or read book Design of Reinforced Concrete Sections Under Bending and Axial Forces written by Helena Barros and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-03 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains auxiliary calculation tools to facilitate the safety assessment of reinforced concrete sections. Essential parameters in the design to the ultimate limit state of resistance such as the percentage of reinforcement and the position of the neutral axis in concrete cross-sections, as well as the control of the maximum stresses in service limit states are provided by these tools. A set of tables, charts and diagrams used to design cross-sections of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures are supplied. The most current beams and columns cross-sections namely, rectangular, circular and T-sections are considered. These tools have been prepared in line with the provisions of the new European regulations, with particular reference to Eurocode 2 – Design of Concrete Structures. The book stands as an ideal learning resource for students of structural design and analysis courses in civil engineering, building construction and architecture, as well as a valuable reference for concrete structural design professionals in practice.

Book Thin Walled Structures

Download or read book Thin Walled Structures written by J.Y. Richard Liew and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-11-27 with total page 841 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thin-plated structures are used extensively in building construction, automobile, aircraft, shipbuilding and other industries because of a number of favourable factors such as high strength-weight ratio, development of new materials and processes and the availability of efficient analytical methods. This class of structure is made by joining thin plates together at their edges and they rely for their rigidity and strength upon the tremendous stiffness and load-carrying capacity of the flat plates from which they are made. Many of the problems encountered in these structures arise because of the effects of local buckling. The knowledge of various facets of this phenomenon has increased dramatically since the 1960s. Problem areas which were hitherto either too complex for rigorous analysis or whose subtleties were not fully realized have in these years been subjected to intensive study. Great advances have been made in the areas of inelastic buckling. The growth in use of lightweight strong materials, such as fibre-reinforced plastics has also been a contributory factor towards the need for advances in the knowledge of the far post-buckling range. The conference is a sequel to the international conference organised by the University of Strathclyde in December 1996 and this international gathering will provide the opportunity for discussion of recent developments and trends in design of thin-walled structures.
