Book Dredged Material Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement Mcnary Reservoir and Lower Snake River Reservoirs Appendix C

Download or read book Dredged Material Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement Mcnary Reservoir and Lower Snake River Reservoirs Appendix C written by and published by . This book was released on 2002-07-01 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This final Dredged Material Management Plan/Enviornmental Impact Statement (DMMP/EIS) presents the Corps of Engineers' programmatic plan for maintenance of the authorized navigation channel and certain publicly owned facilities in the lower Snake River reservoirs between Lewiston, Idaho and the Columbia River, and McNary reservoir on the Columbia River for 20 years; for managment of dredged material from these reservoirs; and for maintenance of flow conveyance capacity at the most upstream extent of the Lower Granite reservoir for the remaining economic life of the dam and reservoir project (to year 2074). The Corps, along with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, analyzed four alternatives for this Final DMMP/EIS: ALternative 1 = No Action (No Change) - Maintenance Dredging With In-Water Disposal; Alternative 2 - Maintenance Dredging With In-Water Disposal to Create Fish Habitat and a 3-Foot Levee Raise; Alternative 3 - Maintenance Dredging With Upland Disposal and a 3-Foot Levee Raise; and Alternative 4 - Maintenance Dredging With Beneficial Use of Dredged Material and a 3-Foot Levee Raise (Recommended Plan/Preferred Alternative).

Book Management Plan for the Disposal of Contaminated Material in the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area

Download or read book Management Plan for the Disposal of Contaminated Material in the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Craney Island Management Plan was developed to extend the life of the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area (CIDMMA). The CIDMMA is used to dispose maintenance and new work dredged material from the project area. With current practice, CIDMMA would reach ultimate capacity by the year 2000. If, however, suitable material is barged to the sea and only contaminated material is placed in the facility (Restricted Use Program), then the life of the facility can be extended. Two tasks were addressed in this study: (a) determine service life under Restricted Use and (b) determine contaminant losses and conduct a Comprehensive Analysis of Migration Pathways (CAMP) expected to occur under Restricted Use. The results showed that the service life of the CIDMMA could be extended under Restrictive Use for approximately 140 years under baseline coniditions or 90 years under Worst Case conditions. The CAMP analysis was conducted along three major contaminant migration pathways (effluent, leachate, and volatile). Effluent was the most significant pathway for metal losses and volatilisation and for polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) losses. Leachate losses under a fully dewatered condition would not exceed effluent losses for some metals. PAH losses for a fully dewatered condition would not exceed effluent losses.
